How did we go soo wrong, our current toaster is the worse for crumpets, it doesn’t pop up high enough to get them out and can never reliably toast them. you either have to put it on the lowest setting and run two cycles or put it up a little and eject it manually before it burns too much lol

That’s what I do. The settings are bogus anyway. 2 cycles on low. After the first cycle I swap them, so the tops are at the bottoms and the outwards facing sides are now facing each other (cause the outer heating elements are not as hot as the 2 heating elements right next to each other in the middle).
This way they get toasted evenly. How crispy (cremated) you want them is up to you then.

ye I do exactly this for bread, its a little harder for crumpets as each side isn’t uniform and the “top” toasts differently than the bottom so you have to be extra careful with them even on low.
I prefer todo my cremations in the oven XD
