debian actually still follows(more closely atleast) the do one thing and do it well thing
can always just run one of the multiple choices for a graphical installer for most things(like searching for a new package/install this one new thing)
not recommended for like kernel upgrades/some other stuff i think(depending), but doing apd get update/apt get upgrade, pretty easy, and more intuitive then say pacman -Syy(as far as being obvious what it does and not having to search for the command on how to just update the list of packages)
