Stereo mics are enough for some insanely good positional audio. Virtual Barber Shop is a good example.
Good headphones can help with that too.

ye its still really cool though iirc its what games like csgo use to get directional audio in games or ASMR if your into that. What I like the most about this apporch though is you don’t need any expensive audio setup to still get a really good effect with regular stereo headphones.
