The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

Must be some weird ancient Canadian hippie-shaman fetish.

Now officially not on the AMD stream team anymore, not regularly anyway. Still streaming for the VLAN and other special occasional thibgs but thats it.
Now going to work on building a community for myself (and growing the one here). We will see how this goes I guess lol.

They go hand in hand =P. A community here will be part of the same community for yourself

I meant that I don’t have a community on twitch and I have a (if very small) community here lol so That’s why I put it like that
But yea

Also custom build for Quakecon is canceled. I don’t remember if I mentioned it already but my sister is going with to QC so there went that $600 lul

It’s ridiculous how fast you can reach that amount and still not have the ā€œtop of the lineā€ parts.
Mine’s about the same (incl. monitors, peripherals and ext. HDDs; excl. speakers, headphones, dac).
Even worse for people who are impatient/don’t do their research and buy whatever.

I mean
The $600 NVME 800gb SSD is the biggest reason its $2600 or so and not $1700 or $1800 but yep
Also the ram is freakishly overpriced because I habe 32gb of 3200mhz so theres also that (when I got it it was $170… Now is $360 )

Other than those two things though its pretty much what you said.

Unless one really needs a new PC, patience is the way to go. Waiting for the prices to normalize again. GPU retail prices seem to have gone down to somewhat normal again too (under $300 for a 580 8GB or 1060 6GB). But RAM prices are still fucked (more than 100% more expensive in your case is insane).

The other thing is that generally I don’t build a PC all at once, I have left overs from old rigs constantly lol. That and I buy new hardware … Roughly every 4-6 months for my build (though lately not much because pricing is a dick for GPUs which is the only thing I could really upgrade and have it matter for performance lol)
So the value Kind of creeps up over time.

Also the fact that ancient (relatively) hardware is still reasonably good and worth a fair amount is a factor. My 390X is worth as much and performs as well as my 580 (well… If the 580 I had was an 8gb it would but still) which is… Unusual but now normal I guess in GPUs. looks at 7970/280Xs lol

Also stuff like my speakers and audio gear that doesnt really lose value after a certain point is a thing.

lol i guess it is, don’t know why I should’ve be surprised by that.

when everyone turns on the AC and doesnt realize the things eat 500-1000w power each and blows the breakers or worse

I run my AC off the same power strip as my PC. AC pulls 1120W, my PC pulls 76-288W, power strip is rated for 1950W.

Magic Ryzen + Vega voodoo bullshit power sipping.
