The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

The whole reason for SR-IOV is to run multiple vms at once at the same time and naturally yes performance will be split too, you can sorta think of it the same way as allocating CPU to VMs where they’ll all share resources between them.

Then that disqualifies it for a “balls to the wall gaming build” if you have to split performance per user/VM.

i got it because someone couldnt get it to work on their old x79, meanwhile it worked on my other x79 and ryzen systems so i really cant complain, was basically free :stuck_out_tongue:

Rip me. Gotta call the dentist in the morning cause I’ll probably need not one but two root canals done. Fuck…

i have a new toy… an oculus Go that i then modded to work on PC using what is essentially steam in home streaming + steam VR and its glorious but also horrible (but thats VR in general lol).
the go actually has a better screen than the rift, but same ppi and that.

because of how it handles streaming i basically need a better GPU than what i have, and preferably an nvidia one because nvenc (as it is, theres some issues due to it not having a ton of bandwidth because rx 580 and H.265). but neat that it does work though. i might grab … idk a 1070 after selling a few things now or something just to drive this better :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t imagine those two things going well together. I’ve used a Rift and even then there are times when its too bad and i feel sick when playing but adding the extra latency of the network to that can’t be good for the experience.

its actually not bad, provided you have the bandwidth
stays under 70ms total usually. i mean some games are worse than that :stuck_out_tongue:
need a better GPU though to really push things right.

I mean with VR you really want it as low as possible but 70ms still feels a little too high for me and can’t imagine not feeling sick with it. usually above around 20ms is when it starts getting noticeable.

idk, warthunder was … tolerable, playing other games lolno
especially ones that get under 70 FPS, that and the somewhat high latency put together just rek all the things.
i kindof want a real rift/vive but also really dont now lol. is awesome for flying games but man, it takes some getting used to as well.

After messing around with it for some time, trying to watch YouTube in VR and Netflix, and above-mentioned games…
My brain hurts. Anything that’s under 70FPS regardless of if it’s native on the headset or games streaming to it is just terrible. The game streaming actually does work well enough though, as long as the FPS is good but if it isn’t then it’s even worse than just low FPS so… There’s that.
It is cool but I understand now why VR is … The way it is. It’s so cool and yet so broken lol.
I’ll probably play some more war thunder with it or something, or perhaps break out star citizen (then again it’s star citizen which has terrible FPS so actually that’s a bad idea)
… Not sure what else is really worth trying.
The Oculus go is pretty neat though. It has basically a 2016 phone built into it for YouTube, Netflix, various games and the like on board (which is strange given it has a really high end display that a mid range PC is required to run) but still, the fact that it’s wireless is useful. If annoying because it means I can’t just hook it to my PC

Wow, nice. No root canal done. The cause must be somewhere else cause the teeth are fine. And it’s no fun when you’re told “if it’s a nerve problem, don’t bother with painkillers when even the normal ones don’t help”. Might be some extreme over-sensitivity due to a recent cold (with the sinuses pressing on nerves).

At least it’s not a root problem. Having one infect or even fester is a pain in the ass (even worse if it hits the jaw bone). I should also limit smoking for a while as it seems to trigger some of the pain. Talking too (won’t have much trouble with that, though). Basically taking it easy and avoid stress.

But I ordered 2 more audio dramas which should arrive tomorrow. The missing “anniversary” episodes they do every 25 episodes (so far 100, 125, 150 and 175, and 200 is not too far away). They cost ~12€ instead of 7€ but they’re 3x as long.
Counting 118 regular episodes and 6 special episodes so far in my collection.

I really need to find a place to obtain some manga to read in my downtime here…

Because Solitaire has decided to fuck me… didn’t even get taken out to dinner first…

Someday I will forget all about it, this episode of the pizza is far in my distant past and is just a faint memory and then…

Of course not. They’re talking about the “sexy/slutty” Halloween pizza. Just fun, no harm.
Meanwhile @Michael put a real corpse in the front yard for decoration…
