Ah the good 'ol days. Then shit started hitting the fan. Once the great schism happened it opened the floodgates for what seems like an endless supply of spergs, the mod team got rekt hard (some good ones left, but nothing like it used to be), and some bad actors got their way. With the content of the channel declining to just news and reviews it really doesn’t promote what it could be. Those early humorous videos of L1 were great, but they just don’t make them anymore.

Everyone is just too sensitive… can’t have what seem like normal conversations anymore. No train of thought going all over the place discourse because you’re constantly walking on eggshells at all times it seems. People on there used to be open to new ideas and opposing viewpoints. Now when they encounter those they seem to take it as a personal attack instead of a learning experience or an opportunity for understanding.

It’s not just the people in charge who got divided, it’s the community, the conversations (in that everything has to be 1 static topic with no change), the comradery, and the fun got the shaft.

I was on a server with this… I made the mistake of doing thaumcraft knowing nothing about it… rip me.

Did end up building about half an awesome palace before it died though. People don’t like to play the long game it seems…

Is why there is strict limits on megathreads here.

A. Dont want to split the community into little sections. If you want that goto reddit
B. People tend to huddle together to protect their section and the ideas it represents.
C. This place is too small to try and even attempt massive amounts of “lounge” threads

Okay so I’m not the only god damn person who feels this way. I’m always slammed for saying this and heck I got silenced on L1T today for a little fun poking China pol about a china laptop with a china distro and all the fuck I said was fuck china software of course you could load other Linux distros… boom thread closed… and you know me I can’t stay silent when stupid shit happens… And I kinda got vocal about why shit sucks and truthful about how people laugh at us and then a silence… you know all the fuck I was trying to express is how much this divide has sucked… how much the old community was the heart of the forum itself that drove the crazy trio of the 3 names we knew back on teksyndicate… hell I met most of ya at the god damn LAN party…

Nah this place is great. We just shoot the shit, poke fun, and sometimes do some cool stuff and it’s really laid back feeling.

I wish it could have been up longer too. I didnt get the chance to play it cause my laptop couldnt keep up. Got like 30fps in my starter base :frowning:

Honest to God coolest thing I went to in a while all the other big lans are just a bunch of overcompetivity gamers… there dude it felt like a get together of fuckin friends and we were getting drunk on bear and laughing at people’s fuck ups… and genuinely chilling out…

Where is that kind of shit anymore… what the fuck has happened to people

I tried to block out the specifics at the time and embrace the two new forums… then I just left cuz it was flaming fuck all… took a long hiatus in college… recently came back to find a flame war started by an indivual or two and the war for ethical calm accepting discussion and was like dear Christ what has happened to this place since l lift
