The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

The “cheap shit” sounds expensive while a handle (1.75L) of Jack for $40 sounds not that much more expensive.

it could be more like $20 for a standard bottle… idk for sure since I never buy less than a Liter generally. What people call good stuff is normally around $50 a bottle while down in Texas it’s $30 for the same stuff.

Also buying a bigger bottle is a significant discount per volume.

Weird how things are in other countries. Here 0.7L is the standard size for hard liquor. The only stuff you can buy in larger bottles are low-grade rum (usually used for baking) and really, really cheap vodka (quality and price). And the small bottles that hold a shot (Jägermeister and Klopfer, never really seen the variety of mini bars in hotel rooms here).
Any other sizes are either special editions (like in gift boxes) or for bars (from big stores that are meant for businesses).

Same here with Coca Cola. The price for a can or 0.5L bottle is insane compared to a 2L bottle.
And Nic Nacs (those crunchy peanuts).

That’s the standard here too, but it just makes more sense to buy a bigger bottle if it’s available (which it often is) because it’s so much cheaper per volume. Like a $20 liter of rum can have a $30 1.75L bottle right next to it, nearly twice the volume for 50% more.

Lmao Bulleit 95 which is some of the best budget whiskey is $17 here. And normally it’s $25. Then again one can argue rye isnt really normal whiskey but still.

Also vodka is cheep here.

Vodka is cheap everywhere since it’s the most popular hard liquor in the world. I don’t like that either though. Sure it’s used for mixed drinks and it does that just fine.

I certainly prefer gin and rum over everything else.

could always go big clive style with some

oh for @TheDiddilyHorror dunno how they do it in all of europes but here they mandate poison being added and such for paint thinners if they are alcohol based, other wise this is basically everclear but with no taxes so you get this barrel thing for the cost of like 3 handles

Gin can be cheap as well, but good stuff… Lolno
Rum is dirt cheap lol. Some is as low as $11 for a 1.75L :stuck_out_tongue:
It isn’t great rum but it’s good mixing stuff anyway

Best bang for buck gin for me I’d have to say is New Amsterdam. bombay is good but pricey, Brokers is good and a nice middle ground for those.

My favorite rum I’ve found so far is Mount Gay. I highly recommend that one. Other than that all rums are alright from what I’ve had.

My favorite gin is one from back home that’s a juniper and cedar gin. They make it local there and makes some of the best gin and tonic I’ve ever had lol. But it’s like $40 for a 750ml.
