Finally encoding the rest of my South Park seasons. Stopped after disc 2 of season 3. Named all the episodes properly and after this batch I’m done with all 10 seasons.
File size after encoding with x265 is 1/10 of the original rip per episode. And it looks nicer cause of the decombing. Not the quality of modern episodes but kinda amazing how much they improved since then. Production quality now is on a whole different level.

And I just noticed I didn’t save the change from x264 to x265, so now all of S10 except E1 are in x264…
didnt save it as a preset?
I did but I forgot to set it to x265 when I made it and changed it afterwards without saving it, so it still had x264 in the preset.
Well…~5min per episode, 24 episodes. Just 2h of transcoding.
Even at stock clock my 1700 is more than enough for occasional transcoding. Especially for SD content. The CPU tops out at 41°C. HD content taxes it a lot more but it’s been a while since I even bought a BluRay.
ye but < has buttload id have to re transcode if i did all 265, takes like 2~2.5min or something i think per episode on the 264 slow, but if start talking like 6000episodes and 5-7min per episode, going to 3950 or whatever is substantial decrease in required time/would probs be worth
Nah, just use some old Macbook Air in an airtight box for superior heating.

It boggles my mind when I read about all the issues every new Macbook has and people still creaming themselves over the Apple brand.

Or how a lot of people seem to think wireless is the future but not realizing that their Airpods or any other Bluetooth earbuds are useless once the batteries’ life decreases. Nobody’s gonna pay to replace them, just buy the new gen or a new pair.

TIL that you can download YT videos with VLC by copy-pasting the video URL into the player, then navigating to codec information, copy-pasting the location into the browser again and then right-click -> save as.
Nice, cause all the downloader sites were garbage anyway.
I’m not sure if there’s a trick to it but the 7h and 14h videos I downloaded are only 720p instead of 1080p.
