Why not crossbow bolts? they have more oomph.
Or a ridiculously well-aimed hit by a trebuchet?

“why weren’t you answering your phone? we were worrying for hours if something happened to yo!”
“sorry, I had to compile the call app on my phone because it kept auto-dialing the hotline that tells you the current time.”

Slow reload times, I have 2 knees. Need to hit both before i get you

I mean if were going for extremes here. Backward blind folded tomahawk is clearly the end all be all

You joke but my phone crashed while compiling once and I missed a call because of it XD

Sucks for you, SailfishOS FTW

Yeah, but I can take my time reloading after you’ve been hit with the first bolt.

Blindfolded backwards somersault spinning a bola on one foot, aiming at your throat so you stumble backwards, trip over an escaped snake that hasn’t even been discovered and named yet, then slip on a wet newspaper in the grass (cause the neighbor’s dog stole it and left it on the lawn before the sprinkler system started) and you fall into the wood chipper.

I still need to try SailfishOS on this but I only have so many sdcard and imaging the emmc over usb2.0 is soo slow lol

After trying basically all of the Linux for phones, SailfishOS still has to be my favorite by far. The gestures just become intuitive after a few days. The theme sucks ass but im not expecting nerds to be design experts

But they’ve gotten sooo fucking cheap. 16 gigs is like, what? Under 10 bucks now?
Shit, they’re actually cheaper than that. 32gigs are under 7 GBP now (for a Sandisk microSD).

I don’t get it. This is such a bottleneck (paired with Android’s clusterfuck filetransfer). We have phones now with 3.1Ghz and 16 gig RAM. They boast about crazy fast onboard storage speeds and yet almost all phones still use USB 2.0.

I might make the jump and try it on the internal emmc. right now I’m using postmarketos because its way less restricting than ubports but I prefer the ui on ubports because it just works better as a phone and doesn’t break as much.

I mean my LG G5 is usb3.0 and yet my sister latest iphone 10 (i think) is still usb 2.0 lol

You know how small 16GB is? It fills up sooo quick XD. If it wasnt for the fact that i flash my phone to a fresh state after like a month or so, the 64GB i have on it would quickly run out

Yeah. Fuck MTP. It just sucks but there really isnt a better option (That im aware of, Many technical limitations preventing you from just emulating something like a flash drive)

I dont know many people (Besides techy people like us) who actually transfer stuff over USB. Most either use some form of cloud sync (GDrive, ICloud, etc) or just go with no backups. The rare times they do try and transfer something over USB, the speed still doesnt matter because they are just grabbing something like a photo or home video

MTP kinda works as long as you don’t want to actually look at or scan the files because the overhead on top of it buckles under the amount of i/o operations it has todo, though for usb file transfer i find adb push/pull works a lot better.

It’s as inconsistent as you can imagine.

There’s also this weird thing where manufacturers don’t care if you get the even cheaper version of an already cheap phone and put a high-capacity microSD in it but for some fucking reason (probably money) higher end phones often don’t even have a microSD slot.
Or Huawei’s shitty overpriced proprietary microSD in SIM form factor.
It would make much more sense if the cheaper phones didn’t have a microSD slot so the models with more storage and higher price would sell more. Or people would be like “well, the more expensive phones have microSD slots so I’ll guess I get one of those”.

My phone has 64gig onboard and I hardly use 1/2 of it (there’s also not a lot on the microSD).
What do you do on your phone that takes up so much space?

I was assuming the SD would be just for flashing, not for running it. Like on PC 16 gig thumb drives are enough for installation media.

Like the tech-iliterate mainstream that has no idea what’s different in this year’s new flagship model but they absolutely need to have it?

The UI and gestures does take a bit of getting use too because stuff like pulling down to access context menus dont make much sense and are not really hinted at. Once you do get used too it, its fucking great. Every app follows the same design so once it clicks, it just becomes a extension of you.

One of the biggest downsides IMO is the MASSIVE lack of app support. Even the built in browser is out of date at this point
