The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

it can be a bitch to run when you start throwing shit like texture packs, shaders, etc at it.

Just because why not I kind of feel like testing Assasins Creed Rogue lol.
Will probably do some other games as well.

you could but imo rouge isn’t the greatest of games to test. it run fine but isn’t what I’d call consistent.

Also lol I had forgotten that MSI afterburner really hates crimson edition drivers so thats a thing

I thought the sockets were completely different though?

same socket different configurations.

So instead of being able to use all 8 channels of memory you would only be able to use 4, you wont have access to all of the PCIe lanes, etc.

if you modded eypc microcode onto a threadripper board and disable some of the DRM features then it should in theory work. Might also need some ECC memory too

hmm that is very interesting. thought there were physical differences in the socket. Not sure I entirely like that the boards are technically capable but limited by DRM but could make an awesome low cost server with huge amount of cores if you didn’t need the pcie lanes or memory channels.

the SP3 socket will probably have more pins for power, memory, PCIe, etc but they are for the most identical.

If you need a low cost server then go with something like ryzen pro as they technically support ECC memory and even come with more security focused featues

and just b OCing the CPU and a slight bump in freq went to 23rd place from 29th

yep isn’t ryzen pro AM4 though? would see this more of a fringe diy solution for somebody who needs more cores than threadripper but not necessarily the features of the board.

yes but if you need more than 16 cores then eypc on a TR4 board is not the greatest of options because it might not even be stable, you might not have all of the cores, and even if you do get all of the cores then there might be high lag when switching between dies because the data has to travel via the infinity fabric. This is all speculation ofc because as far as i know, there is no one who has actually done it at all or if they have done it then they have not done it with the full 32 core version

and even better lol
now the freq on the GPUS are as high as they will go in Radeon Wattman so theres that

I wasn’t advocating people to go out and actually try this in production because lord knows thats a very bad idea. just hypothetically thinking of the possibilities of such a combo if it did indeed work.

yep. you would have much better luck with a threadripper in a eypc motherboard though
