The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

I kind of want to grab a peice of wood from there of a suitable size, carve it into a dildo while sitting at work, and then give it to the front end manager who doesnt know how to do jack shit and tell her where to stick it and then quit but I feel like that wouldnt end well lmao

Uhmā€¦thatā€™s not necessarily how it works. Sennheiser has a lot of headphones that look very similar and are priced around the same but have slightly different frequency response (on purpose). If itā€™s headphones are replacing other headphones they at least need to sound the same to be considered a successor.
Like, the HD660S are not the replacement for the HD650 which are also not the replacement for the HD600. They sound different (even if itā€™s only a little bit) and whatā€™s equally important: they donā€™t cost the same (and are all still available).

They could be an improved version but I donā€™t know when either of them were released.

yep. liquor laws are fairly lax here besides the whole sunday thing

Forgive me for my ignorance the last time i did any research on audio stuff was when i got the 558s 3-4 years ago

Here it can take a new restaurant for example 6+ months to get a license to sell alcohol.

Sennheiserā€™s a bit of a mess except for the more expensive stuff. And it doesnā€™t mean that more expensive means better sound. Apparently a lot of people donā€™t like the HD700, yet they cost ~$450.

It all depends on what type of sound your looking for with them i guess, but i bet that can be said of most audio gear

exactly, my buddy out in Buffalo loves his hd650s more than any other headphones he has, and theyā€™re far from his most expensive.

This should only be true for headphones/speakers and tube amps. DACs and regular amps should not alter the sound if theyā€™re good.

Those are still over $300 most of the time.
Sure, you can go much higher (I think the Sennheiser Orpheus are the most expensive now, but they also come with their own tube amp), but $300 is still a lot for headphones - imo.

Makes sense regular amps and DACs electrically all theyā€™re doing is boosting or converting a signal if they donā€™t that means the some kind of internal interference.

Which can be hard to tell without some sort of reference.

Tax news:
Normally Iā€™d file a 1040ezā€¦ However because I got income from Amazon for 1099 misc I canā€™t file a 1040ez. Slight hassle but not terrible.

True, but if the engineer/s designing them knows what theyā€™re doing or care enough DACs and AMPs are pretty basic circuits

If Iā€™m going to dump $300 at audio Iā€™d rather put it towards speakers or DAC/Amp gear.
For me buying something like AKG K240s with clean, balanced sound for relatively cheap and getting good audio gear to drive it well is more useful. I can get new headphones pretty easy/cheap but the other stuff not so much for quality gear

Soā€¦either a good DAC and/or Amp or a cheap good pair of speakers?

Pairing cheap headphones with expensive dacs/ampsā€¦eh.
Which doesnā€™t mean cheap canā€™t sound good, but with cheap, easy to drive headphones you can get away with dac/amps that donā€™t cost $300.
And sometimes more powerful amps can give you a hiss with low impedance headphones.

uhumā€¦
