alright will try that, I’m fairly sure the radeon gpu is being loaded by default though as radeontop shows the card with 100% usage and almost all its video memory.
One of my contacts for PC parts gave me a stack of motherboards that he claims were completely dead. No power or anything.
So far I’ve got one X79 board half-working (only works running dual-channel RAM), one completely working X58 board, and one working 780i board out of the stack. The rest of these boards I can’t test since they’re Z97 and I don’t have any Haswell tester chips.
So from looking around installing the catalyst drivers on Fedora is an absolute bitch to get working without breaking anything and since AMD discontinued support for it the open source drivers apparently provide way better performance anyway and it isn’t worth it. thought I’d try it anyway and they won’t install because my version of Xorg is so new it doesn’t even recognize it.
I’m not sure if there is much else I can do other than trying to get the catalyst drivers to work on Fedora or switch to Ubuntu as they are still supported and see if that helps but don’t really want to go that route.
I could but I’m not sure what Fedora version I should downgrade to. everything I can find for getting the drivers to work is on Fedora 24 or below and even rpm fusion removed them because of how fucked they were on Fedora so its looking like Ubuntu might be my best option.
