Hmm could be, the nvidia driver update and 4.15 kernel did both update at the same time. usually with drive/kernel updates don’t notice so many issues but this time its really bad.

sorta maybe? Nvidia drivers are a PoS on Linux but they work for the most part after you get them working initially.

The nvidia drivers are linux is just a binary blob that gets injected into kernel space XD.

yep which is mostly why they are a PoS because when they break they really fucking break.

Don’t mind me, just compiling ACS patch into kernel so I can try to pass through a usb controller. (Damn taichi and it’s IOMMU groups)

Anything on the display stack is prone to “really fucking break” when it breaks.

When you think about it, it means you can’t locally administer your computer unless you’ve got a serial terminal to work from.

Don’t get me wrong, Nvidia is a pain in the ass though. The only two to ever do it seamlessly were Solus and Pop (so far)

When you get sad because compiling means you can’t play games.

This, I have ssh setup so I can remote into my machine as nvidia has a tendency to not initialize my displays at all after login sometimes.

I mean there’s always Cataclysm

I’ve had that pain in the ass way too many times.

Do note, however, that if you set nomodeset and init=/sbin/init recovery you can usually fix it locally.

That’s why I’ve uninstalled windows store from all my windows machines.

The only reason I havent is because when I remove all that stuff every damned update windows decides to put it all back lol so I couldnt care less anymore

I’ve configured my pc not to update without my consent. Don’t even have the fall creators update installed, because fuck Microsoft.

I did too but it updated anyway lol.

Did you use the group policy?

Works just fine when I’m not compiling.

Well depends on the forza I guess. Horizon 3 was notorious for not working well with a lot of setups at least at launch

Forza 7 is what I’m playing. Got it on sale, 60% off, so I’d say it was worth.

AMD build all around, 580 and 1700.

Yay
Too bad I didn’t get it yesterday though lol otherwise I could have thrown it in my stream rig.
