for now. Ill probably go fedora 28 when i eventually get my new laptop
Finished Morrowind yet?
no
One does not simply finish morrowind
Pile of shame, eh?
Maybe a little, thereās nothing shameful about not finishing morrowind
Wooo for having ~ 13 hours of sleep⦠For two days total. Like 8 and then 4 or 5 last night. But Iām at work again and its at the store that has people that actually give a shit lol so its nice.
Was hanging out with family all of yesterday so. I may do that a bit more as my grandparents who live out in the country are cool. And I can learn how to work on cars from my grandpa there (while helping him ⦠Actually finish the projects he has lol) so theres that.
Also may end up doing more of a conversion to my van than it already is, like adding insulation and battery, and possibly other things. Not sure really on that. Mostly just want the insulation for⦠Well, insulation lol as thereās literally none in the van currently so.
Ended up not streaming or doing anything really tech yesterday other than lurk here a bit so.
Mystery Machine!
Lol no. If Iām going to paint it with a new color scheme (like not just replacing rust spots) its going to be A-Team. Because reasons.
Wearing a lot of gold chains and pitying the fool?
Honestly because it would stop the stupid oh its a white van jokes lol
But also because I like that show/movie(s). So.
At some point 5-10 years from now if I still have this van and also have money; ill replace the engine and transmission to something somewhat more efficient and also better lol. Because as it is it gets anywhere from 8mpg to 20mpg depending mostly upon how windy it is and how fast I go because its a steel brick of a vehicle lol
How much do engines cost that fit in there?
I donāt want to think about it right now as just fixing one of the doors costs $300 and thatās a lot for me currently lol. So its a āthis would be nice for gas mileageā but not a it needs to happen thing.
I would guess that an engine is a few grand to start though. No idea on transmission but probably similar⦠To start. And it only goes up from there.
However it is a 1990 and a van which means it was one of the last Ford vehicles (along with trucks) to switch from the old style of building where everything was built well and easy to work on; to being shitty to work on (most cars after the 70/80s fuel laws in the US. Except vans and trucks, they only switched after the early 90 s)
So it is actually relatively easy to do all the work, but it isnāt cheap sometimes.
Original new one or spare part from a junkyard? Either way, thatās fucking expensive for just a door.
Its expensive because it needs to a) be bent back into the correct shape. But mostly b) needs to be totally repainted and rust repaired.
(Original door).
And I also have to paint some of and wax the whole van but thatās anothere project entirely lol.
Arenāt there any smaller shops that do it cheaper?
Not really. Body work is expensive. Even on steel which is one of the easier ones to work with from what I can tell (at least easier then aluminum or plastic can be I think. Might be wrong though as thatās just based on not working with cars lol)
The paint is actually the cheaper part.
Why not turn it into a project with your grandfather?
(not saying you should make him pay for it. buy the parts and do the work together)
Because fixing dents is a massive bitch lol. Making a dent is easy, taking it out⦠Yeah no.
And then the paint replacing is⦠Hard but for different reasons. Mostly is hard to make it good Iām sure I could do it OK but I would rather it be done well so I donāt have to redo over and over.
How long are you expecting the car to last?
