yeah Gnome isnât great at the best of times, mate should be pretty good and lightweight though compared to Gnome by a long shot.

Vega Nano is amazing for anyone with an SFF machine. OG Nano was so heavily binned you could clock it over the stock Fury X at 50W less power draw, meaning way better efficiency.
Youâre right itâs a prototype. AMD showed off a Vega Nano prototype at the initial Vega launch and hasnât done anything with it, so now itâs AIB vendors making the push. The PCB is already done and the design has been complete for almost a year now. Itâs really not a difficult concept to bring to market.
Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse uses the Nano PCB.
XFX Vega 56 and 64 Double use the Nano PCB.
Now PowerColor is showing off an ITX sized unnamed GPU, using the same Nano PCB.
All signs point toward this being a real thing very soon. If the PCB design is solid enough to distribute to multiple vendors than itâs all down to those vendors contributing with a proper cooling solution.
Besides PowerColor has historically enjoyed being the canary on new products, they enjoy beating AMD to their own designs.
I mean it might be interesting. But the fact that the Pulse edition still needs a triple slot cooler despite having nano PCB means that I would highly doubt anyone, and particularly not Powercolor, could make a vega nano and keep any kind of decent performance lol.

It doesnât need a triple-slot cooler, Sapphire are still overbuilding their HSF solutions to keep their âsilent operationâ marketing bullet point. Fact is Vega doesnât need insane cooling, but it does benefit from running lower temps. Vegaâs turbo feature is all based on power and thermals; the internal logic adjusts clocks and VID based on the status of both. High thermals leads to the logic adjusting VID and clocks down.
Vega Nano would work because of this turbo tech. We already know the R9 Nanoâs heatsink was capable of 175W dissipation, and the big drawback to performance was the extremely conservative VID range tied to the aggressive thermal ceiling. Weâve already seen Vega running well under 200W TBP with a couple minor power target tweaks without sacrificing a ton of performance, and the PowerColor concept looks to have a slightly larger HSF, probably targeted at the 200-220W TDP range. So you set your thermal target at 78-81C, pull the power target down about 15% under the stock Vega target and youâve got approximately a 1450MHz core turbo target on a 7" card. At thermal peak it will likely run closer to 1330-1380MHz, about where the Vega 56 usually settles at stock.
If the vendors decide to release their own Vega Nano cards with the cut-down Vega 56 ASIC then the clock targets could actually be higher than the reference Vega 56. My 56 at 46% fan speed will hold around 1420MHz at 73C on the reference blower, and I can run HBM at 945MHz to increase performance without even touching the power target.
So here is the deal with ReShade 3.2 if you have a preset made for a game donât install over it. Itâs best to use it with a fresh game that has no preset.
No idea how warm my room is right now (warm enough to warrant some room fans (one aimed at the PC, one aimed at my crotch), but while playing WoW, watching some Twitch and having FF open:
CPU package - 40-50°C (fanspeed ~700-900rpm)
VRM - 47-48°C
GPU - 44-48°C (fanspeed ~1900rpm constant)
meanwhile here itâs 50F and i have all the windows open and everything because its freaking nice out lolâŚ
temps something similar inside. maybe 65F ? so like 18C.

Outside ~12°C. But no idea how warm itâs inside (window wide open). My 2nd monitor (that 8 year old crap TN display) us dumping a lot of heat into the room. Itâs so fucking annoying. It feels as warm as my PCâs exhaust air. But the U2414H is still 200âŹ+, donât wanna spend that much on another 1080p monitor when 1440p, 4K and 21:9 are a thing.
Its also like 12C here now, room is also fairly hot because of computers/monitors also but not running anything major so donât have any windows open or fans going because it really isnât that bad right now.
oooh this is tempting (i like the Aorus branded boards color wise more, is same board as the other gigabyte one anyway, lol) but damn, I wonât be able to get it in time for the LAN unless itâs at microcenterâŚ
