The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

Updating Windows 10 from release 14393 to 1803 now takes roughly 8 hours on a standard 100Mbps down connection. Windows 10 was supposed to remain streamlined and have a faster update service, guess that’s out.

I’m on even surprised, In all I’ve heard the 1803 update is a complete mess to begin with let alone the install time, It is very unstable and has bricked countless installs after updating that go straight to a bluescreen among the other usual issues.

Yep.

Oh Microsoft why can’t you test your releases anymore.

I imagine getting rid of the testing division didn’t exactly create positive results as far as testing for stability is concerned.

that might have something todo with it yes XD

they got rid of the windows and xbox testing division and put the windows phone people incharge of all 3

yeah that makes sense because they did a great job with Windows Phone.

that is why i use LTSB lol. no need to worry about this shit

yes, its nice having a version of Windows 10 that ye know doesn’t break every couple of months for some random thing that Microsoft neglected to fix or added. Really I don’t think I could live with 10 if it wasn’t for LTSB.

So i was doing some digging and noticed some power management options in the BIOS. Disabled them and im gonna see if that helps with the shit battery life and the CPU being at the lowest Pstate when on battery

Also fingerprint reader is not working. Took the laptop apart and reconnected it and still nope. Looks like i might have to order a new one and replace it

neat hopefully this works and is able to fix the issues. so with this enabled I gather the laptop handles the power management without offloading that to the OS? would certainly make sense as to why the Pstates are messed up if this were the case.

RIP hopefully there not too much and its an easy enough fix, fingerprint login would be pretty neat.

the CPU is why it doesnt work iirc only the i5s do the security functions necessary to have it work

Well RIP then :frowning:

Might have to get a different CPU at some point too

doesnt look like it helped too much. It just stays at 800Mhz but its now randomly clocking too around 1.6Ghz but then it falls back down to 800Mhz

well shit, this issue just keeps on getting more annoying. did it randomly clock to 1.6GHz before? at least thats something but not like it helps much.
