I have no idea what language you’re speaking
To put it simply, btrfs scrubs the data for parity but in raid 5 the calculation is wrong and it will attempt to “fix” data that isn’t corrupt and in doing so will corrupt it.
have they not fixed that yet?
I’m not even sure, I heard there was a partial fix a while back but I haven’t really been keeping up with that.
Shit like that is why I don’t want raid.
I’m very capable of fucking up my stuff by myself, I don’t need any software to do that for me, thank you.
BTRFS is a fairly new filesystem and for a large part is still in heavy development. ZFS on the other hand has similar features (except more overhead) and is used heavily within enterprise for huge and important datasets for a very long time. This goes back since before Sun Microsystems was owned by Oracle and it was mostly limited to Solaris servers. Sorry for the history lesson.
I mean stuff like when Barnacules pulled his raid system and didn’t label them beforehand.
Don’t remember if he got his files back or not.
Barnacules was careless and iirc he lost his data because he was dicking around with the drives after he broke it? he was also using hardware raid which is a whole other story compared to software raid like ZFS and BTRFS.
Yeah, he kinda cluelessly tried to fix it himself and fucked it up even more.
But that’s exactly the kinda guy I am.
yep being careless and impatient when it comes to data isn’t a very good mix especially since he had important business data on those drives and for the most part had no backups of it either.
My backup system is:
NAS - Daily Backup
External Harddrive Weekly
2nd External Harddrive Monthly
The Cloud - Always when I make a change to affected files.
My backup system is a little less involved.
Daily BTRFS snapshots of my / and /home partitions
Backup of latest snapshot to storage drive and server Weekly
Storage drive is mostly static data which is also kept on my server
Very important data is gpg encrypted and stored in the cloud and on a usb stick
I might be doing a crazy and taking the Nitro cooler off my R9 390 and putting it on a firepro S9150 as its an R9 390X but with 16Gb of Vram and has 2.5 tflops double float point. Because reasons. Also the HP ones I have access to are ones that have a mini displayport on them so shouldn’t be that hard to have displays connected lol.
May not be for a bit though.
Also didnt stream earlier as I keep forgetting that when I work I’m constantly split between
Do I want to make content for other people
Or watch content I enjoy.
Still. Will do another episode of LIS.
Not sure if I should do it after work today or sometime tomorrow before/after I stream on the AMD channel.
I just randomly back up my doc files and sometimes add the new additions to my ext drives from my music/video folders.
And I think I have a flashdrive somewhere with my doc files too.
Such pro, many backup, wow.
meanwhile I just have a couple of hdds that have games, separated from my main OS drive and yeah that’s about as far as my backups go lol
That being said most of the stuff thats really important for me isnt local to my PC (I.e. I log into them online. I don’t actually have very many important files on my PC on any given time besides semi-important things like benchmark results and so on for reviews and thats about the most important thing)
That being said I also own basically no physical media or have any urge to go get any currently… Though archives of my YT/twitch are semi important but I have access to the ones I upload to YT at all times so.
A little insight into how I do ReShade.
I take a Screenshot of the game I’m planning to install ReShade to. In this case it will be Hellblade in the Future:
Default Hellblade:
The I take the imagine and Enhance it in Lightroom as to what I would like the Preset to look like. So here is what I plan for the Preset to look like once I’m done:
Simplifed version of what is being done: Enhanced Shadows, Clarity, A slight Greenhue, and Light being tweaked to be a little darker.
I’ll have a copy of that open when I work on making the Preset. That’s still in the future though but I’d figure I share on how I work on making ReShades.
While I’m ripping my music CDs and watching some random stuff on YT (interrupted by the occasional food break with chinese leftovers and animu) I’m thinking about the ideal headphone stand/holder/whatever for my K712.
I don’t want to hang them on just a simple headphone hanger cause a) the §leather headband will take that shape after a while and b) I don’t want to hang them on the plastic construction.
I also don’t want to put them on a yoga block or anything that isn’t a) angled for the earpads and b) flat/pointy which would also deform the headband over time.
I also don’t want it to take up a lot of space, so a styrofoam head unfortunately is not an option.
The best way to go would probably be a curved piece of wood for the headband and then a piece of angled wood a but below for the earpads to press against.
This means I need to find some wood -_-
This is what I have for my headset:
Had it for 3 years now.
There are some head stands from companies that would suit my needs, but I’m not willing to pay that much money. Audioquest has one and ROOM’s audio line too, but they’re both 70-90€.
Same with that headphone holder that won LTT’s contest. Silverstone took the 3d print and made a metal version but it’s 70€.
edit: Just discovered that the curled cable that comes with the K712 is poop. I don’t mean the sound quality, can’t say anything about that yet. But the cable jacket almost feels like plastic, rather than rubber, and is stiff. Need to let that hang off somewhere and let it straighten out a bit. Geez, even the one that came with my M40x is better than that. Get your shit together, AKG.
Tried to use it…well, AKG really fucked up with that cable. You need to use some force to get it in and then it won’t come out (yes, that mini-XLR plug has a locking mechanism and I pressed the button down, but the fit is too tight). Basically had to use pliers to get it out. Fuck that cable.
