Local electronics store chain has 8TB WD Elements ext. HDDs on sale for 130€. Was tempted to get one since the free space on my ext. backup HDDs is getting low.
Did the math, thunked about it some and then went with a 10TB WD Elements for 165€ from Amazon.
Yes, it’s gonna take until next Thursday until it arrives. But a) I know how to deal with Amazon if it fails during warranty (the electronics store is…so-so. only okay if you know someone who works there) and b) it’s almost the same price per TB. Also, I’m not tempted to get another 8TB while I’m at the store picking the other one up. Which is a good thing for my wallet. oh, I’ll get more storage eventually. I’m gonna get ALL the storage. ALL OF IT!

they keep getting cheaper. not much, though. When I bought my 2x 8TB drives they were on sale for ~145€ or something. Not on sale for 130€ is an even better price. But they cost ~150€ when not on sale so…
the 10tb was a better deal imo (and prevented me from spending 260€). it’s not like I need 16tb immediately, so it’s fine.

I just hope my ISP doesn’t get suspicious. been sifting through my anime collection, trying to replace the ones with only jap audio with dual audio ones or at least ones with smaller file size (but still good enough quality) and so far I’m at a bit over 1TB download since yesterday…
