The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

@ThatBootsGuy
I’m at MR 13 now passed the test.

Also got the Steel Charge mod so now my Valkr is a more deadly ball of whirling death:

This isn’t where I want it to be yet nor all the mods I want yet. I’ll get there.
I can stay in Hysteria for a good length of time.

75% of my state sells nothing but piss water beer lol

Incase anyone cares about how much usage a receipt printer gets lol

CR is the actually part the prints and DI is for stuff like checks

damn that is a lot of receipts for one printer, I take it this has been running constantly since 2010? Interesting part is that its used 229.5 kilometres of paper in total.

I have no other information on this but guessing that because its industry tech that its closer to the low end lol.

Though ive never seen anyone do ANY kind of maintenance for the poor thing. Change the ink/paper as need and thats about it lol

Funnily enough the debit machine receives both data/power over HDMI

machines like this are usually build to last a very long time so I’d be surprised if it hasn’t been abused a lot but just keeps on running along. how beat up does it even look?

That is very interesting, mostly things like that I’ve seen usually use Ethernet for that kind of stuff here.

really non at all. Mostly dirty

Was just strange seeing the connector on a machine that still uses RS232 for the printer XD

aww, thing should get a good cleanup for all the service its put in :frowning:

ye i think thats common in industry, things like printers usually last a very long time and still use legacy connectors for the most part.

Actually a proprietary connector (i think) that uses RS232 as its communication

lol I’m not surprised by that at all, they love using their own connectors on things so you have to go back to them for maintenance/new parts.

it does have USB support on the printer

interesting, so the printer supports usb but they still use the RS232 proprietary connector for that instead?

ye. no idea why.

yeah seems very strange, maybe its just a fuck it this works lets not touch it kinda thing.

Its more because some places run tech literally from the 80s still because it never broke. Or if lucky the 90s.
Hell my work had XP machines till a few weeks ago.

yep my father used to work security in a plant that manufactured turbines and all there machines were ancient but still worked fine however so were never replaced, there is possibly reason now to remove XP though especially for front facing stuff, pretty much all ATMs and point of sale systems here still use XP even relatively new ones like self service checkouts which slightly scares me, although I’ve found a couple running either CentOS or FreeBSD before.

Space Project Report:
Going well so far. I realized though to the potential for this to turn into a more serious kinda inspired by Farscape but darker and horror is there. But I’m not sure where the story will go. Though no there won’t be a universal translator cause this is a book so I can take my time for the character to learn the language. Now I may not go this route and it will be a bit before that could happen.

Mr Robot returns in 2019 for its final season. The creator decided that. He has done well with the series and I know the last season will be good. I have a theory as to how I think it will all end but I want to see how things play out to see if I was right or wrong.

I have the coming Monday off which is nice. Hooray for company paid day off holiday.

That reminds me that I really should finish watching the latest series of that again. I kind of want to watch but marathon it from start to finish but I’m very bad at doing that and almost always never finish it.
