The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

(Not that the main show the Arrow is that bad… Though it can be… but … The flash. And somewhat supergirl also lol. )

Could be good though. I guess will see.

Sleeping for 14h after being 24h awake…I think I’m getting too old for this shit.

edit: oh, and I probably won’t shop at that arts & crafts supply store again unless I need something I can only get there. The prices for 99% of the stuff there is way too damn high. 500ml “high grade” acrylic paint for 20€. 250ml tubes for over 10€. Bitch, I got the 500ml black acrylic paint for ~5€ from the cheap office supply store. get real.
They do have cheap brushes though, but they’re at the very bottom of the shelf so you can barely see them.

This should be very interesting, Gamers Nexus had interview with Principled Technologies about benchmarking and testing methodologies in light of their publication for Intel.

Just watching the initial video. I’m surprised they let them in :joy:

Me too but you have to give them credit for at least trying to set the record straight, most would try and ignore this until it blows over.

It’s stated in the first video that it wasn’t going live until after they went to request an interview.

iirc Steve said in the video that it would go live around the same time they show up at their door.
But still…the guy from PT said they were getting a lot of emails already and turning them away when GN showed up wouldn’t solve the situation.
They could’ve just said no. No idea how that would go for their reputation.

“this video will go live just around the time we’ll be arriving, so they shouldn’t have any reason to shoo us away yet” I.E.: We’ll show up to their door and request an interview before they have a chance to hear our scathing critique in full.

Unless somebody at PT is a devout follower of GN and got that sub notification immediately, it’s unlikely they saw the video before Steve knocked on the door.

With the emails they’re getting they should know a shitstorm (or at least a big controversy) regarding their testing has been building up. If they thought people would knock on their door to deliver a celebratory cake then they’re pretty naive.

They frankly didn’t expect anyone to come knocking on their door. It’s just extremely lucky for Steve to be local. Anyone else who would have the drive to actually show up for an interview was either still on a plane from the event the previous evening, or still working on their own content for videos at their own location. It was unlikely anyone was going to be jumping right back on a plane to go get an interview with PT, so I really doubt they expected anyone to be walking up at all.

Steve was on the phone to Paul and Kyle during Awesome Hardware and said that they saw part of the video before he turned up but certainly not all of it as they wouldn’t have had time to.

So Steve makes it seem like their video would not have been live for more than 25 minutes (we’re leaving as this uploads/it’ll be live by the time we arrive) and it’s a 30 minute video. I kinda doubt PT was sat there refreshing the page to see the video within the minute it was uploaded with no prior knowledge of the video being produced. It seems more of a scenario where if you show up at this place, announce yourself as Steve from Gamer’s Nexus, and request to interview them about their recent work for Intel there’s a chance they leave you sitting on the porch for a few minutes while some poor intern googles the name and pulls up the most recent posts under that name while mister co-founder glares over their shoulder.

The co founder of the company saw Steve arrive and went out to meet him just as he got out of the car and invited them in to film even before they had a chance to knock on the door and said “nice to meet you, I don’t agree with you but” so they at knew who he was and at least partly his stance on the matter.

If he knew to meet them in the parking lot at that moment it’s also very likely they simply called ahead, yeah? Pretty much knocking on the door.

My statement stays the same. They requested an interview before PT was able to view the video, suggesting they agreed to it before knowing the critique.

I don’t disagree with that statement, they did show up right as the video was published so couldn’t have seen all of it to know his critiques but it was indicated by Steve that they were aware of it when he arrived.

There’s nothing wrong with that statement. I just don’t think they - being PT - were expecting someone to show up at their door to praise them for their good work.

Their test PC setups were all over the place (64GB worth of RAM, using stock or unsupported coolers, graphical settings, etc.) and their arguments - build it and play, not spending a ton of time tweaking settings, “out of box” experience and your average builds - were contradicting.

Even with the interview I think they very well knew what they were doing: going for benchmarks that make Intel’s new CPU the clear victor.

Why the fuck does Patreon require a credit card tied to my Paypal account?
“Recurring payments” my ass. Blizzard didn’t have an issue with it when I had a monthly subscription for WoW.

You should see the prices of scale model stuff… like $3 for 1/2oz (14mL) and you need 2 to do a full paintjob on a car. I should get back into modeling, but I need to set up the shed for it.

Sleep schedule is fixed!

Also did the budget spreadsheet and found I have an extra $2k assuming the propane will be about as much as I have figured (which should be the case considering I based it off of an emergency delivery bill with tank inspection during peak season)

Once I make the call that racing sim setup is mine

I’m getting this as the stand for everything. Seems pretty good, and has a nice upgrade path if I want to go down it.
