The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

Well, it would be fair if they were trying to eat you.
Same with hunting. Is it fair to hunt with weapons? That’s not equal terms.
1v1 fight where both parties are aware of it. No sneaky surprise attacks from the back. No kicks in the groin.

Kicks to the groin is a legitimate tactic #ChangeMyMind

Not like it hurts much XD

Ive never been kicked with intentional force but it always felt more like a thud. Getting slapped in the boobs sucks though :frowning:

With you being currently over-qualified I have no doubt in that.

So because Red Dead Redemption 2 runs like shit I finally convinced my brother to overclock his 8700K and I was under the assumption that pretty much all 8700Ks should hit around 5GHz easily with how mature Intel’s 14nm node is right now? Except It couldn’t even do 4.9GHz at 1.35V and even boot into Windows. I’m either missing something or he seriously lost the silicone lottery?

Nah, a quick search of various forum entries shows that you’re not alone with that. Some just get 4.8GHz with that voltage, others 4.9 with 1.36V. Others have won the lottery and can run 5GHz under 1.3V.
Then again, you’re boosting the multicore performance with the OC too (should be 4.3GHz on 6 cores usually). So, getting to 4.8GHz with all cores is an inprovement, even if it’s just 100MHz over the singlecore boost.

And from Gamers Nexus’ review:

We ended up stuck at 4.9-5.0GHz with a Vcore of 1.40-1.42, a far cry from Der8auer’s golden sample unit at 5.2GHz and 1.375Vcore:

I’ll try and give that a go later and see how it goes. after it failed once he’s straight back to the whatever I don’t care anymore stage.

I have no idea what the “safe” voltages for Intel usually is but it seems to be higher than for Ryzen.

thats the 9900k and even then the occasional dud wont get 5ghz.
