@ThatBootsGuy i work for your favorite company doing tech support XD
inb4 its just a way more expensive
So it looks like my brother may have killed his 2080 Ti. A couple of day ago he spilled Pepsi down the back of his computer (went through the top fans of his AIO and dispersed everywhere). cleaned most of it up but his GPU was probably he worse hit. I advised him that he shouldāve taken it apart and cleaned it out good before putting it back in but he was very adamant he didnāt want todo that so just left over night and most of the day until he installed it again hoping it would dry out, however today when he was playing GTA5 started artifacting, went and switched to Modern Warefare same thing and then in Wolfenstein.
I sense a common theme in your family about destroying things.
Ye the only difference is I killed a £5 pizza and he destroyed a £1200 graphic card
try some rice/blow dryer nug
but ye if just never powered it on and cleaned it quick could have saved it maybe
Wont work for pepsi. It will eventually eat the traces
@Michael go ahead and advise your brother to start shopping for a new GPU as its already fucked beyond repair
could alcohol bath it should clear out the pepsi colas but ideally clean it before you run it, as doesnt matter if there is a short if no power is flowing, if it is, could be pulling down shit/blow a part of vrm or some other chip
Ye. I think this will be an expensive lesson well learned for him. Heās already looking out for a new one but thereās hardly any stock of them everywhere so could take a week or so to replace it which heās not too happy about apart from dropping another Ā£1200.
Let that sink in a bit. Squiggly L 1200. That price is ridiculous. Some whole PCs cost less than that. Nvidia sure has become greedy.
And it was killed by some fizzy, sticky boy.
inb4 3080ti rumors
Heās decided to try and RMA it with Gigabyte but is getting the run around with them and Amazon as both telling him to go to the other. WIll have to see how that plays out.
That RMA is going to be denied as soon as they take it apart and see the water damage stickers are all white XD
ye thats what I said but for £1200 fuck its at least worth a try XD
have fun waiting for 2 weeks to hear back no
^100% this XD
eh thats his problem not mine
Hey bro, mind if i borrow your gpu while mines in the shop
< got that after i sent pictures and gave an exact description of what i did to the evga power supply and then they denied it because the back panel part that you have to use to pull the front off was slightly bent
but its flexible like image card stock or something
what does that part behind the pcb have to deal with the bearing in the fan failing prematurely
was like i opened it are you sure, then sent exact screen shots of the messages with the first person with the second and with the third and all 3 of the customer service whatever fuccs were like ye send it in you good boo boo
then they were like yeah we cant fix it you opened the case
fun packing it up so it couldnt possibly be damaged, and pay shipping with insurance and shit to have them deny it instantly
it now has a noctua fan in there
