The software from the plugable website had a tray icon file in the folder it installed. But after the installation the properties of the BT dongle always said “Code 10”.
With the driver that got it working the BT dongle shows up as “Device” in “Bluetooth & other devices”, so…
Don’t know what to think about that. Connection seems to work (only tested the controller for ~1min to see if all the buttons work; and Steam recognized it as XBO controller), but with the try icon missing and the BT dongle showing up as “device” under “other devices”…dunno. Kinda feels incomplete.
And I just had to remove then add the XBO controller again cause when I tried to connect it it went from “Paired” to “Connected” and back to “Paired” every second or two and the controller kept blinking.
Might try one with a CSR chip. Ordered 2 different BT adapters with CSR chips (LogiLink BT0015 and Avantree DG405; since Asus can’t be fucking arsed to list the chip they use). Should arrive on Thursday. If they work without any hassle I’ll return the Broadcom one.
Yeah. Seems like I have perpetual bad luck. I don’t remember having returned that many stuff in retail. In fact, I only ever had issues with stuff bought in retail for a few things (H87 mobo that was used but sold as new, AKG earbuds cause they changed to a thinner wire, AKG headphones cause one of the drivers had a defect, iPod nano (locked up, resolved by a friendly retail employee), iPod Classic (no idea, Apple wanted me to pay to even find out what’s wrong…out of warranty period).
Maybe it’s Amazon that cursed me…
Just to be clear: CSR IS Qualcomm, right? cause I can’t find any BT USB adapters that use Qualcomm/Atheros and the TI stuff seems to be for DIY projects.
My brother is a jammy bastard. He’s getting a full refund for the 2080 Ti he broke with no questions asked, he just has to send it back and its already been accepted.
He got passed around between the Amazon and Gigabyte a couple of times until eventually the Amazon told him that he had to go through troubleshooting steps, then he just listed off literally everything already, they said ok. since the card you bought isn’t available anymore we’ll offer a full refund but it’ll take a week to approve since the item is so expensive, 10-15 minutes later it was approved.
How long ago did he buy it?
But lucky that he got Amazon to deal with it. An RMA with Gigabyte probably wouldn’t have ended that well.
Oh, and he basically played dumb and never mentioned the Pepsi?
“Listen, mate, I already went through all the steps. I put it in rice, I laid it on a towel, I even blew on it. Nothing works.”
“Alright, then I’ll see if you’re eligible for a refund.”
