Meh. Vanilla WoW was really raw. So much unbalanced stuff. Compared to today simple questing took forever and raiding was impossible if you werenāt in a guild.
Some things Iām glad doesnāt exist in the current state of WoW or got refined:
- Weapon/armor skills (you had to level each weapon type or youād miss a lot when hitting)
- Hunters had to use and keep an eye on their ammunition
- Riding was locked until Lvl. 40 and cost a small fortune (have fun running around a lot)
- Raids and dungeons? Get to the entrance yourself after you found a party in chat (which could take forever)
- Dungeon Finder /LFR -> just get in the queue and wait until you get automatically teleported INSIDE the dungeon/raid with enough random players
- more gold
- Questing is easier (locations on map, more detailed quest texts)
- Riding at Lvl. 20 (easily obtainable)
- no more annoying weapon/armor skills

It was probably one of the great games of the time when it came outā¦ In 2004 lol. Now? Not really as much anymore.
I know I didnāt play vanilla wow and have tried it once or twice and really didnt like it. Havent bothered to try new WoW tho because moneys

Even people who play it since release say it wasnāt better back then. They donāt look through rose-tinted glasses. I started around WotLK - when some people say it got too easy and let a lot of kiddies in (not using crowd control, no idea how to tank/heal, etc).
You can play until Lvl 20 for free with some limitations (no postal service, etc. mostly comfort functions that arenāt really necessary for characters at that level). That should be enough to try and see how you like it. Although, leveling is quite different from end content (dungeons, raids, basically farming gear and whatever, since thereās so much to do).
Well considering the only other true MMORPG Iāve played is BDOā¦ Iām sure itāll be fine lol.

its free and i wanna try vanilla wow. The more gold part it dont like because there is so much fucking inflation in wow its not even funny.

Nah, it was really annoying farming gold like that. It still takes a while to get a few 100k gold, but itās more a resource than a currency.
@Dje4321 I got the WoW client to run in Wine and can login to elysium
as expected its all kinds of messed up with i3 but should be able to fix that.

Canāt play wow because monies, havenāt played BDO because itās definitely p2w. You canāt access investment banks unless you have the highest rated house on your particular plot, but you canāt get stuff to increase your houseās rating without pearls which are the premium currency.
