Finally got an appointment for the oculist next week so I can get new glasses. Not that I’m having trouble seeing with my current ones but after over 9(000!!!) years it’s time for new ones. Sitting kinda crooked on my nose and it’s that Titanflex thingy that flexes too much to bend properly. I mean, it’s possible but give how old the frame is my optician advised against any bending. Plus, they’re a kids model, so they’re kinda small and the lenses are small too.
Gonna set me back ~300-400€ but seeing (haha) how I got over 9 years of daily use out of my current ones it should be a good purchase. (if I can find a pair that I like, selection is a bit limited)
Amazon finally has South Park S22 available on Prime (as in “included with Prime”, not the option where you have to pay to watch it) so I’ve been binging that today.
And I’m sharpening some knives. Was kinda overdue for some. Doing the fifth now.
I really need to get new glasses at some point. The left legs is held together with electrical tape and both of the spacers are gone so its digging into my nose which leaves red mark across it but otherwise they work fine and haven’t had the time to go and replace them yet.
damn that’s expensive for glasses? you need anything special for them? my current pair only set me back around £180 though they have an anti-glare coating and thinned lenses too.
That’s a pretty good price.
The lenses are actually included at the optician I’m buying from so you only pay for the frame. But I’m really picky (which in this case I can justify cause it’s not as if I’m getting a new pair every few months and I’m using them every minute I’m awake, so I don’t want some cheap plastic frame that breaks the first time I accidentally drop it).
Thinner lenses (thin is standard there and so is the anti-glare, but I always had the extra thin ones) are +70€ extra. Not sure if I’m going for the UV coating too (but that’s only the front and front+back is another step up from that in price) but I’m not outside much so…probably don’t need it (at least front+back I don’t need).
I really, really hope they already have the additional insurance. 20€ for a 2y no questions asked replacement guarantee. I can break them, lose them, get them stolen, etc and they replace them without a charge (at least that’s what I’ve been told). Without that it’s only 100 days and not as “no questions asked”.
Something like this will probably what I get (again an Eschenbach Titanflex) but it depends what they have in stock at the store.
Not doing that well, slept maybe 4 hours and had all kinds of stuff come up and have been at the hospital all day now rip. Woo for anxiety and depression
But I got some leave approved so going home for a few days which is nice I guess.
I’ll probably be here another 2-4 hours which means I will have spent most of the work day… Out of work. Oh well.
I do really enjoy my job though, it’s a mix of mechanical and tech stuff which I find very interesting and I keep surprising higher level people by knowing for example what a ripple filter (like in a PSU) is and does, lol.
Its not as bad as it sounds. if it weren’t for the missing spacers I’d hardly notice they were broken at all.
Ye mostly the same here where I only have to pay for the frames and any extras like the anti-glare and such. though If I didn’t go for the anti-glare I could’ve got another pair free but I was excluded from that offer but I’d much rather have the anti-glare on something I use pretty much every second of the day than another pair I’d hardly use.
Yeah, will see. Its been rocky for a few weeks now, part of it is that I buried what happened in tech school and yeah that wasn’t a good idea lol. (That really bad day I posted about a while back).
It was also what I was mentioning the other day.
I have some really good friends here that have been helping a lot though (basically a new brother and sister now). Still, when you can’t sleep because of anxiety and have flashbacks and nightmares because depression and stuff it makes for an entire week where I got 22 hours total sleep. So I went to er after that lol.
Still kinda sucks.
I’m thinking about getting a spare pair cause it’s 50% off when I buy it with the other pair. Getting nice ones for every day and cheap ones in case the other ones break or I lose them. My optician is fairly quick so I should have a new pair the next day but still sucks to go a day without glasses (and then going outside without glasses to get the new ones).
Well, duh, that’s sure to take a toll on your physical health as well. Anxiety and depression suck.
For Android I mostly just use the Firefox Beta/Preview builds. there decently fast and as far as privacy goes the latest preview versions have the enhanced tracking protection built in which blocks a lot of ads and tracking scripts automatically too. Also use Firefox Focus sometime though not as much which is mostly the same except its an incognito browser that forgets everything when you close the tab.
I used to have glasses but dont need them anymore. Mine wasnt a vision problem but was blurry due to my eyes not knowing how to focus on the same spot. Fuck me that took many years to correct it to the point where i didnt need them anymore. Starting too loose it now too so thats going to be a shitty couple of months
ye, I was meaning to do that when you suggested it a while ago though its been hard trying to actually get my records as the opticians keep giving me the run around whenever I call them about it
Your eye’s being able to focus again? and it’ll take a couple months to correct it again?
Ye. When i look at something my eyes wont focus on the exact same spot so stuff will be a little fuzzy. Took a while to train them to focus on one point and they are starting to forget
That must be terrible always thought that was something your brain does subconsciously or do you have to actively try and focus your eye’s on a point to train your brain todo it is self?
