The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

Man am i so fucking livid. The cable installation guy sucks ass. There is 110V AC running through my COAX line and directly into my modem :woman_facepalming:

Incase anyone is wondering. Here is a fix for it XD. Not the best fix but its keeping my modem happy now so im not completely pissed. They are replacing both that modem and the new i bought to replace it.

I hate wiring lol. Will have to rewire basically the entire lighting system on the Volvo so it doesn’t break again anytime soon, as the wires are all crusty and falling apart but man it’s going to take a while. Oh well once it’s done it’ll be good for a long time so meh. Also have to get new tires and have the brakes bled but will see when I have saved enough for that.
On the plus side though everything on the Volvo is super easy to take apart and put back together, the headlight assembly is literally 2 clips and the 2 screws per headlight and that’s it.

Otherwise HI.

Also the San Francisco airport is fucking massive.
The one end to the other is like 30 miles across. Thankfully the actually walking park of the airport is only like 5 lol.

Also traveling in uniform is one of the most nice but most confusing things I’ve done in a while, when every third person says thank you for your service can be difficult to respond to everyone and stuff. But cool to see though

Wow finally was able to get sleep after a 36+ hour day yesterday, lol. Woke up at 5am Sunday and finally went to bed at 9pm (or 11pm here). So much better
Among other things checked on the car. Also pic of the progress of the Jeep my grandpa has been working on off and on when not on my car.

Otherwise feels nice but weird to be home, some things are the same some not.
Also strange thing; I forgot what cold tap water is like since in both TX and CA the water is some vague resemblance of cold not actually cold lol. Meanwhile here is borderline freezing and it’s much better imo, no ice needed ever :stuck_out_tongue:

Hows it going with you guys?

Not much. Had an eye doctor appointment today for the first time in 9 years.
Left eye is the same, right one got worse by .5 dpt.
Optician still doesn’t offer the additional 2y warranty which sucks cause it’s basically a “we replace it, no questions asked” thing for 20€. I still get 2y warranty (Garantie) from the manufacturer and 1y warranty (Gewährleistung) from the optician but it’s probably not the same as the additional one.
The frame should be nearly indestructible under normal circumstances (look up Titanflex) but the lenses…what if they get scratched (I’m talking noticeable, not some small scratch somewhere on the edge where you don’t notice it)? I mean, I’ve had my glasses for over 9 years now and they don’t have a single scratch but my brain tends to do those longwinded “what if” scenarios when I’m about to buy something that costs a lot of money (and isn’t amazon where I can send it back for a refund/replacement).

Also indecisive if I should get the blue light filter/blocker coating or not. It’s an additional 50€ and it doesn’t only block the blue light from screens but also irl. And colors are a bit off with it.
Gonna ask the optician if he has a piece of glass with the coating as a sample so I can see the difference.

And of course they didn’t have the frame I want. Now I need to see if they can order it (which basically means I have to buy it, it’s a weird policy there). And they never mention prices. I guess it’s one of those “if you have to ask you probably can’t afford it” shops. Don’t like that at all but so far they’ve been top notch in the past regarding customer service.

And I’m not sure if I should get a second one as a spare. Not that I’m swimming in money all of a sudden but if I get them together the second one is half off, so if I just get the cheapest (but not ugliest) frame with regular lenses (not the extra extra thin ones that are +100€ extra) I can save a ton and not walk around like a blind person in case my main glasses break.

edit: current #1 choice would be the Eschenbach Titanflex 820755

choice #2 would be the 820752

they’re very similar, the main difference being the height and the thickness of the temples.
