Call me a pessimist but what’s the catch? Was your current insurance that much of a ripoff?

This.

My civic, even in Cali is $130 a month. Volvo is only $40 a month. Rambler is $20 but also not fully insured so it doesn’t really count, lol. Then again, since I’m military I can use USAA so it’s super cheap. Once I switch back to WI for the Civic that will drop back to $70 a month though. Since it’s titled in WI it’s what I should’ve done to start but… Oh well. Insurance is strange.

So, when I checked for Windows updates I got this message displayed.

You’re currently running a version of Windows that’s nearing the end of service. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 to get the latest features and security improvements.

I’m on 1809 and according to Micorsoft’s website the support ends in May. 1909 gets support until 2022. How do I deal with this? “Just” install the newer build over the existing one? Is this like a fresh install? And how likely is it that Windows derps and it’s treated like a fresh installation?

tfw it’s a literal blizzard and you still have to go into work for the 4 people who have appointments scheduled that day

Its just like a regular system update but for a major release. You can defer it for 7 days but iirc after that windows will install it anyway. My Windows VM is currently on 1909 and havent had any issues with it.

Do I have to do it manually with an installation media or does Windows offer it in the updates?

there should just be an option to install it in Windows updates.

Ah, I see. I had most updates set to be deferred for as long as possible (cause I’ve heard of some less than desirable updates in the past where shit went south really fast). And I also set it to “Semi-annual” but the non-targeted one. Maybe that’s why it didn’t show up for me.

edit: haha, there it is.

Let’s hope it doesn’t bork anything.
Wish me luck.

update: updated without an issue (at first glance, just restarted so I can’t say for sure if anything broke).
it reset my bios settings so why I was at it I did a bios update too.

1-2 feet of snowfall and steady 30mph winds with gusts in the 40-50 range, states of emergency have been declared, blizzard warning in effect

Still can’t go home because she won’t let me cancel the 1 appointment that would cause an issue…
