what do you expect from a game that was basically made to run in windows 98?

Because I was curious did some quick math
Depending on whats most valuable to mine, ill be sitting around $4-7 a day (so between 120 and 200 a month) with the current prices of Ethereum and other coins. This at basically no power cost. Not bad.
(Actually calculated it this time lol instead of guessing. If i add the RX 570 will add another $3-4 or so a day, depending on the coin mined).

now you see why people are going crazy over it =P

also a interesting tidbit @Cavemanthe0ne and other may be interested in.

I have a HS friend who mines on the side. Wouldnt be a problem if it wasnt for the fact that power over here is $0.35/KWh. Still surprised their parents are not pissed at that yet.

is a 1070 but still

I can understand the enthusiasts I just hate the asshole mega corps that buy literally thousands of GPUs because its the only thing that can mine the coins lol
Those are the supply eaters not the average joe miner who has 5 or 10 or even 50 gpus.

If only there were more asics lel
The irony there being that the coins were made so they were asic resistant

the whole point of crypto mining was that is was supposed to be somethng that everyone could do on the side instead of a few asshats doing at scale

Also the irony in that is real

Wow thought they’d be pissed as fuck when they get the power bill. I know mine will be. even running my router and server probably adds a few to the bill but nothing that mining would. totally couldn’t afford to do that with our power prices.

Yeah look how thats going.

-devs make mining asic resistant to defeat big asshats
-don’t realize how popular it could become
-now in an ironic twist because theres no Asics only the big players can afford to get GPUs to mine

Honestly a 1070 (if its at stock) barely pulls any wattage power wise so I doubt anyone would notice.
Like sub 200 watts.
Running a 1000 watt microwave for say 10minutes makes more of an impact than that does in 50mins of mining lol…
(Microwaves are usually between 1000 and 1500 watts so)

but they do it pretty much constantly when they are not doing anything else

You wouldn’t say that if you had our power prices. they are kinda insane. also 1000-1500W on a Microwave? most here barely go over 800W.

Huh. Odd. Most microwaves where I’m at are standardized at 1000 or slightly less.

And ive dealt with high power costs inner city when I was In HS, like .25 Iirc. Still made more money mining even on crappy mining hardware like laptops (elitebook 200 watt things lol) and some old GTX 460s and this was in like 2013-14
Which was when I first started getting into some of the mining stuff for shits and giggles.

Average microwave oven here is 600-800W. they are pretty strict rules on power usage for appliances over here together with how much power costs.
