cant pay more to get a better filling? :stuck_out_tongue:

Wasn’t really the filling’s fault. And they’re paid for by my health insurance. They pay for some amount of fillings per tooth when the teeth aren’t in the front and for all fillings for teeth in the front. There’s some more expensive kind of filling but it’s literally double the price (100€ instead of 50€). Fortunately my dentist usually works some numbers and I get to pay less than I usually would have to. I think the most I had to pay once for fillings was 150€ ( and it would’ve been more if he billed me according to the health insurance) but that was A LOT of work. Like 5 teeth in one session.
If I lived somewhere without that kind of health insurance I’d probably have less teeth by now…

But the quality of the filling had nothing to do with it. When I woke up yesterday and yawned, my jaw suddenly tensed up and made the incisor teeth hit each other, which caused the filling to chip. The area beneath it is apparently very sensitive (probably no enamel anymore, that’s why my dentist recommended I should use some tooth paste and gel which - over time - builds up an artificial enamel). But in the case of that specific tooth he just put some filling on it which held up until a few weeks ago.
I also have had a habit of biting the skin from my lips which isn’t good for the teeth.

Now - after I managed to chip it for the 3rd time in such a short time - I got some kind of dental lacquer on it. This stuff is amazing when it comes to shielding the teeth from heat/cold. Just hope this lasts longer than the filling.

PS: the last time I had to pay at the dentist was last year in November when I had my oral hygiene done. The last three appointments (including the one today) cost me nothing.

never had one chip but do have some older timey ones in the back teeth that are the metal kind lol

the resin ones supposed to be pretty good but idk about chipping :X depends how hard got hit i guess

Amalgam. I think those aren’t allowed here anymore.

so cant eventually end up looking like jaws from james bond?

Different kind of metal. And I wouldn’t want to have to gargle with WD40.

lel ye

could do veggie oils or somethin though :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn vegan James Bond villains…

how bout bacon grease?

Can’t bite your enemies with your metal teeth if you’re obese.

@ThatBootsGuy i have a particular tax question that i need answered. Most likely hypothetical.

Im interviewing for a job where i have the option of getting paid via bitcoin. How the hell does this work tax wise to receive ~$80k in bitcoin as payment to a employee. Most of which would sit unliquidated.

I… I have no idea…

I know bitcoin is treated the same way as a normal stock in that the tax is assessed when the gain is realized, so this leads me to believe it would be treated the same as an employee being paid with stock, but I’m not sure.

Gotta have someone who brings you food then. Or be satisfied with chewing on beef jerky for a few decades.

Aw, come on. Next you’re going to tell me Asbestos is bad for me too.

Well that too. Stay away from moon rocks though. Highly toxic. Makes great portal surfaces though

Then what do I put in my moon pies then?

Common misconception is capital gains are worse than regular income tax. The opposite is true. Capital gains tax is far favorable compared to income tax.

So I know how it works once you have the bitcoin, but I’m not sure how it works with you being paid in bitcoin.

As far as I can figure, the amount of bitcoin you earn is simply wages so you get a normal w2 with payroll taxes and everything taken out of it. This is also your basis. Then when you cash in the bitcoin is when the gain or loss is figured. If it’s a short term transaction it just goes into your normal income with no special treatment. If it’s a long term then it goes towards your capital gains, which based on income is taxed at either 0%, 15%, or 20% (you’re not going to have to worry about the 20% capital gains tax) instead of your normal income tax rate.
