The Lounge 0001 [From the Beginning]

ah okie lol. playin one little bit but not that much, trying to get level 13k magic knight should be fairly soon with mostly no effort

What game?

mabinogi, havent been playing league as much since got super far ahead still over a year and only play couple times a month lol

I’m still only playing Genshin Impact.
2.0-2.1 Updates added a fuck-ton of content. So much that I haven’t really had time to play on my other accounts, just to keep up with current content.

mabinogi has too much content lol

like this is the first mainstream quest line

but as see here there is 1-3, and 7-25

bunch the stuff scales with levels after the super old ones, even if are pretty high level just jacks everything up til you getting annihilated again and stuff, then theres bunch classes/can rank all of them at once, is pretty easy to mess up your character for awhile like, push the combat rating up too high by training different things, and not have any one dedicated one thats high enough so you cant train stuff as easily, has requirements for ranking stuff up like kill x way higher combat rating than yours creatures

and like million random subsystems/shit

Since I mostly played WoW solo, there’s not really any incentive for me to play MMOs. Plus, they’re designed to be time sinks anyway.

Not that Genshin isn’t similar to that (with the addition of time-gating progress since you only have a limited amount of in-game currency to spend on the domains, world bosses, etc which are required for mats and gear; and the game wants you to pay for additional in-game currency if you’re impatient). I’d prefer if it had a base price and expansions instead of the gacha thing but I guess that makes them more money. You’re not required to spend money if you’re patient and can resist the fomo stuff. But it still sucks.
Doesn’t mean that I’m not having fun, though.

ye but wow never had any main story stuff when i played lol, was just kill 5 spiders then ends up bein like 35 things etc

Those kinds of quests are still part of the game. But in terms of story telling they improved a lot since Battle for Azeroth. Legion wasn’t bad either (but it was also the start of a new implementation for farming meaningless shit, just to time-gate stuff).

wasnt there one where they remastered(maybe redid like entire old section of the lv0~60)?

Not really. They had another level squish, so the max level is now 60 again (1-50 in old content, 51-60 in the latest expansion). Now you can choose where you want to level (Vanilla, BC, WotLK, Cataclysm, MoP, WoD, Legion or BoA) and the content gets scaled.

But once you know the drill it’s getting stale really fast. That’s why I stopped playing. On one hand it’s a rush to the new max level with each expansion so you can farm gear and shit, on the other hand you kinda want to enjoy the story but that takes time (ya know, not just skipping quest texts and cutscenes) and you end up being behind everyone else.
And the devs stretch everything out so it seems like there’s a ton of content when it just takes a lot of time doing chores.

But regarding the ā€œremasterā€, people are waiting for a revamp of the old world. And with players now being in the Shadowlands (aka not in the old world), it would be great timing to revamp the old world for the next expansion. Not that I really care. I’m done with WoW.

ye wasnt sure if just graphical or they did other changes really

but ye least what remember was basically nothin for actual main story stuff, some minor lore stuff in each little few level encampment, the humans attacking this farm, this zombie ravaging this other area, some thing with this instance, maybe a local area ā€˜boss’ but basically rinse repeat ever like 5~7 levels

mabi is all random story shit, some guy trying to blow up the planet or unleash some demon from hell, then some other thing then a new other guy etc

edit: sorta like a final fantasy 2 using keywords type of deal, with alot of the same people in the same towns. but works out with the games lore, has dungeons and stuff where its like magically created almost like a portal where its easier to have higher level stuff in same area without low levels getting wiped out constantly

The story telling wasn’t that good in the first few expansions. Hence why there are tons of lore videos cause a lot of people were too lazy to read quest texts and just focused on the objective.
Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King have been a pain in the ass to level through before the change. Barely any story, levelling up takes forever because there are only a few quest hubs and the player has to walk a lot. With that out of the way now, there’s less incentive for players to buy the level boost to skip the boring stuff.

dunno never got hat high level, just remember undead mostly like 0>20 tried few classes and stuff, all theres spiders in the cave over there, but theres only like 4 guys in the village so not really world changing lol, once you leave the town never go back for anything etc

when you show up next one they arent like oh i heard of you you did such and such and save whats her name

Well, yeah. The early quest stuff is boring af unless you go back after levelling a bunch of characters to start a new one and finally read all the story stuff.
You don’t have that many abilities/skills yet, gear is shit and dungeons are a pain cause you rarely find enough people to do the low level dungeons.
But if you’re neither into pushing mythic+ dungeons, raiding or pvp then there ain’t really any endgame content for you. There’s other distractions like farming tmog items, catching/battling pets, achievements (some are tied to endgame content, though), crafting/farming mats. But in the end it’s all just killing time.

wasnt any dungeons over there till like 25 with sfk, unless you went to the one in orgrimmar or whatever but thats far af away

mean like least from what i remember the lore even saw was usless basically like explanation about those spiders in the cave, that eventually you would help the undead armies or whatever but nothing there early

like in mabi, in first gen(and some others) is random role play dungeons, where its just a story thing basically, get turned into the character and you run thru with their skills/equipment and it pops the cutscenes and stuff showing what happened, like researching back story of why this guy went crazy and tried to kill everyone alive by starting like when he first met his friends or something

like wasnt any warcraft 3 why is arthas bein a dicc with frostmorne or whatever stuff i saw, just why those units are there, why you are here, why you go to this town next

Thanks to the dungeon browser and LFR tool there’s not really a distance barrier for players. You just go into the tool, select the dungeon you want to run, select your role (tank, dps, heal) and get queued up. Then you run the dungeon with strangers (there isn’t really any need for communication unless you never played the game).

That tool is a blessing for introverts.

That’s just quest lore. When you start out there’s not much happening. You’re not being tossed into some epic story. You got to work your way up.
But Vanilla/BC/WotLK story telling is crap. ā€œHey, good you’re here! We need have a shortage of X because Y is making the area unsafe. Please bring me 10 of X.ā€ or ā€œThose Constructs are hindering our archeology expedition. Get rid of 15 of them.ā€ Why 15? a) they respawn, duh. and b) there’s either much more than that in the area or not enough so you have to wait for them to respawn. So why this number?

It does get better with every expansion after that and especially Legion and newer have better story. Still the ā€œFetch me/kill X amount of Yā€ quests but at least it’s wrapped in a better story. I didn’t mind questing through that part of BfA with the witches. I liked the atmosphere.
But eventually the magic wears off and all you see is ā€œget X amount of Yā€ again, and that’s no fun.

Yeah, that’s part of the bad story telling. They tried to explain it a bit in WotLK where he is the end boss of the expansion, but there are so many fucking characters and story arcs and factions that it’s difficult to keep track of everything. Hence the tons of lore videos on YT…and the novels…and the lore books.

mean like in warcraft is like every mission of every campaign is part of the story/is already telling you stuff instantly

WC3 is also a different genre than WoW.

til you get to the rexar campain then its basically alpha wow

More like Dota?
