On Elite Dangerous News Front:
No I still haven’t left port. Not leaving till space legs and will likely stow away on a ship. However the devs are adding an in game radio that you can listen to news about what is happening in the games fictional world. Which is neat. Soon my character will be able to listen to the radio while still at the same space port.

I haven’t played this game in so long. I have left port however and was in some far flung system roving planets. maybe the radio will give me something to listen to while flying into nothingness.

ffs… so we’re stuck using some hp400mde or whatever printer that uses $200 cartridges because:

  • she refuses to use anything other than genuine hp toner…

and, much worse…

  • she believes that the printer won’t print the older records, not because of the computer, but because of the printer itself and the fact the records are so old that they won’t print out on a newer printer…

That’s some crazy logical hoops to jump through to reach that conclusion… The worst part is, even if I explain how this all works, she won’t believe me -_-

Oh I forgot to mention, the Firepro S9150s are quite decent at gaming and mining. I put an Arctic Accelero IV on one and it maxes around 70C on the GPU at the stock 900mhz. Gaming performance is somewhere between an R9 390 and R9 390X depending on the game.

Only minor downside is that overclocking is limited.
Otherwise its basically an R9 390X at 900mhz but has 16gb of ram and epic double float performance

I’m glad I asked for and got tomorrow off. Just need a day to not worry about work.

ReShade has a new release out Version 3.1.1

What Changed:

3.1.1:
Added GPU timings to statistics UI (Direct3D10+ and OpenGL only)
Added automatic scrolling to variable editor when double clicking a technique
Added “mousedelta” source for uniform variables
Improved depth buffer detection for D3D11 games (thanks to work by OtisInf)
Changed default of “RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED” to 1 (most modern games use a reversed depth buffer these days)
Fixed a memory leak due in the D3D10/11 implementation
Fixed blend modes and added support for alpha blend modes
Fixed effect toggle keys not being disabled properly while editing them
Fixed “ldexp” expression causing compiler error with some OpenGL implementations
Fixed OpenGL effect compiler writing interpolation qualifiers without “in” or “out” qualifiers
Fixed mouse being reset to center of the screen in some games even though input block is active
Fixed infinite recursion in hook manager call if export hook module fails to load

oh for fucks sake the msi X370 titanium is shitting the bed again with audio issues
I’m super tempted to get a gigabyte board now
which one to pick lol…

I’m not sure, seems many of the X370 boards have audio issues. iirc didn’t @TheDiddilyHorror also have audio issues on his Gigabyte X370 board?

That turned out to be a simple setting in the options of the playback audio device.
Still went ext. DAC cause I don’t trust PC component manufacturers with audio (be it onboard stuff or fucking “gaming” headsets).

The UEFI resetting to default settings after longer periods of being shut off IS an issue, though. Rarely turn my PC off now.

ah right must just be MSI that skimps on the audio then.

I rarely turn on my pc either but that really shouldn’t happen. Have had UEFI boards without power for months and they still retain their settings. not sure but could be bad flash memory on your board? if flash is without power that can happen but its usually a really long time.

Flash what? The BIOS chip itself?

I already tried a different CMOS battery, didn’t help.

yep I’d say its either a bad bios chip or faulty UEFI image flashed onto the board.

Other than that issue it works fine (well, and Blender crashing before even rendering Victor).

If I were I building with Ryzen today I’d go with:

yep, they are both good. Though if i find a good deal on a K5 i may go with that instead but the K7 is quite good.

NO
The Gaming 5 is basically the K7 but without a bclock generator, while the K5 is missing some other stuff too.
