yep both the CPUs in my i7 and i3 laptops are socketed chips. saldy both are different or i’d have tired to put the i7 in the i3 board XD

everything up to Ivy Bridge mobile was socketed for the most part lol

Last time i saw a socked CPU was during the age of the shitty netbooks where companies just used the cheapest CPUs they could find and threw them into a generic board
