It’s way better the shit i need to do for C/C++ programs for classes.
yep. C/C++ usually isn’t too bad though, can get most of the devel packages and dependencies i need from my distros repo it just isn’t as quick as cargo ofc.
As a lazy person a value tools such as cargo.
I’d have too many questions at once and eventually would need to get down to the very basics.
Like, what exactly does a compiler do? How are those created and how does the compiler know how to deal with the code its been fed? How do the lines of code do what they do? And loooots more.
So you want to know how it works from the bottom up, not just that it works
I wouldn’t say “want”, though. But basically yes.
Kinda like “if I press on this pedal the car goes vroom” vs what actually happens.
That’s pretty much why I decided to major in Computer Engineering, I want to know how PC components work at a fundamental level
code chat…
welp:
Be careful on the way down.
I considered doing that, went with biology instead (didn’t turn out that great). Figured that if I make something I like, - a hobby - a job, I’d eventually end up hating it.
I almost went into bio but engineering won out.
I can see that I know plenty of people this has happened to
Already the “tech guy” in the family. My mother straight up refuses to learn anything and fix stuff with her laptop herself cause “she can always ask me to do it”. And I’ve seen quite a lot of people with that mentality. Why bother with it when someone else can do it for you?
And it’s exactly that attitude that I’d dread doing IT stuff for a living. Just the sheer stupidity of people who refuse to learn the basics (like how to change the input language in Windows when they accidentally pressed the hotkeys for it or how to print something in an office).
I feel ya, everyone here probably deal with the same kind of shit.
For some things there is certainly some merit… like getting a lawyer or representing yourself in court, or what I do. But for really menial things like installing Adobe… just learn how to do it lol.
Or a doctor.
But some common sense should still apply and precaution be taken.
For the advanced/pro stuff you get someone who learned that shit in-depth.
Yes… dear god yes… I’m not even IT or particularly good at it… but most of my clients are old people, my boss is older than dirt, and I’m out in the country so computers are foreign to far more than I realized. It makes me physically perturbed when I hear them trying to talk about computer stuff…
The thing is I don’t mind helping people fix their computer if its broken but I usually take the time to teach them what is wrong with it and how to do it themselves but 9 times out of 10 they’ll come to me with the same issue again which really frustrates me.
^this
Lmao at the FedEx driver. Drops off my dads package
… And didnt check for my package so the guy is going to have to come back later to drop it off and have me sign for it.
Slightly annoyed but its more amusing than annoying.
That’s what happens when you don’t sort and check the packages in the truck…
DHL guy delivered twice to me too today.
@Michael I’ll get another package via “Priority Air Mail” again. Make sure for me they don’t mess with it
Sheesh…UPS, DHL, DPD, local postal service. How many delivery companies does Amazon need to deliver their packages?
