I just installed a VM on my new system. SSD ZFS cluster, Windows 7 installer was 7 minutes first power-on to login.

Damn, I love this system.

AAAANNNNDDDD I just realized ZFS on Linux doesn’t support TRIM yet. :frowning: Might have to switch to BTRFS…

(looking for advice)

Can only extort a single company so much. If amazon offers same day delivery you better be damn sure that package gets there or else its coming out of your paycheck

I know nothing about this subject and asking for advice will do more harm then good XD

Fair point. I’m hesitant to move over to BTRFS because of the RAID456 write hole, but I could always get another SSD and go RAID10, seeing how that’s stable.

Best we get is next day delivery within a certain time window. And you either need to have Prime for that or pay extra (which can be a lot).

You have to order by a certain time but we can get same day delivery. Granted its a extra $20 in shipping but still

We don’t get that here at all. Only in Germany.
Prime includes 1-2 day shipping where it’s available and they show how long you have to order something to get it on a guaranteed date. Guaranteed 1 day shipping costs 10€ extra per shipping.

Here we have guaranteed 1 day shipping if you order by a certain time and its about £6.49 whereas standard delivery is £4.75. Amazon do their own shipping over here though using mostly small local curriers instead of big logistics companies such as UPS, DHL, etc.

I run a RockStor
I run a 8 2tb Drive BTRFS array. Raid 5
That nice and quick as well .

Rockstor Is far better than FreeNAS in my opinion

Afaik we only have 2 Amazon warehouses here, the rest has to be delivered from - mostly Germany and sometimes even from the UK, France or Spain (those are never next day deliveries).

Amazon just built a new warehouse in MN so with prime on some orders you can get free one day shipping two day on all other prime orders. There’s also pickup locations if you want it same day here

I’ve looked into it. Looks to be very docker-heavy, which I’m not a huge fan of, but I’ll have to check it out again.

I’m doing all this work on an Ubuntu workstation, so it’s not really a NAS problem.

I think we have about three in the UK, I still get deliveries from Germany and such as well but its quite rare.

You can get 1 day shipping without extra cost here if you have Prime. Just need to make sure to order in time.
The only annoying thing is when that red text appears on the item page saying ā€œSorry, can’t be shipped to your countryā€ even though they shipped it before and it’s Amazon who sells and ships it, so it’s not even like some other seller who just doesn’t want to sell to other countries.

That’s stupid if they can’t ship it to you they shouldn’t mark it as available.

Dont like docker?

oh thank fuck for safe-rm, just rm -rfed some important shit by mistake and it saved my ass.

They show it as a result cause another seller might ship it to that country. Still annoying, though.
