yep having seperate parttions for stuff like home is a must. I’ve recently started using btrfs though. makes it so I can use the subvolumes as partitions for root and /home but still have the full capcacity of the drive for each. is kinda nice plus snapshots and CoW is really awesome.
Ill eventually actually learn what they all do lol just havent had a reason to do it yet. Maybe when @Michael puts up his Looking Glass thing I’ll dive back into Linux but for now I’m on windows for the foreseable future
Edit;
I think thats what that is but i may have derped again lol
nice. i might do btrfs next time i redo linux but i still need to learn how it works under the hood before i really use it
yep I’m still learning the nuances of how the filesystem works but thought I’d jump right in because I learn better that way. Not doing anything too crazy with it yet like raid or anything and backup my data regularly if anything goes wrong.
here is the TL;DR of the root folder layout
/bin - Legacy folder that points to /usr/bin
/boot - where all of the boot files go
/dev - where devices can be accessed
/etc - configuration files
/home - where most users files will be
/root - root user files
/tmp - temporary files that are deleted upon reboot
/lib - legacy folder that points to /usr/lib
/usr - where all of the program files, folders, documentation, etc goes
is more folders and whatnot to go into but this is the super basics that most people need to know
Shameless plug?
still need to write part 4 and port it over to here also
might do it over the weekend TBH
Neat that would be awesome. let me know how it goes if you do
Could port it lol… As technically you don’t own that content as its on the L1 site so they do… And if you put it here you do.
I may have pulled a lot of my stuff from there to the main Cubedcorps site for that reason…
Wait actually. Did you want to post the tutorial as an article(s) that are slightly polished versions.
Could either guest post or make account. Either way @Dje4321
i might do articles but it was never designed for it.
I would post all of the ULT posts here and on the L1T forum
Just an idea, if you wanted to do it. Threads can also be a thing
Also this seems like an interesting game.
yep is very interesting. just looking at it quickly reminds me of limbo.
Edit: lel ofc it does its made by the same developer XD
So my GTX 970 is acting very strange. If I pass it through to a VM audio going through it is distorted (slower tempo and crackling) and it keeps crashing the sound driver on Windows but if I pass through my 980 it works 100% fine.
Wouldn’t mind but the reason I was using the 970 is because fan control was broken on Linux but for some reason that works now? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
the audio is problems sounds like the sample rate is wrong. Should be able to adjust it in windows iirc
Maybe I’ll look into that. if it were the sample rate would it make a difference whether I was using a VM or not? audio on the card works fine on baremetal.
yes. the vm sound output could be expecting a certain sample rate while the windows is feeding it the wrong sample rate.
I thought you’re using a Fiio for audio?
hmm that could be right. if I pass through my USB DAC I experience similar issues. I’ll quickly check and see if it makes a difference.
As I said above the DAC has similar issues to the sound on my 970.
Re-installed the sound driver?
Did you change anything recently?
