@Dje4321 I’m trying to build the akmod for my custom kernel and it fails to install for the nvidia drivers. have any idea what could be wrong with it? Log says I need the devel for 4.15.7 but the source is in /usr/src/kernels.
Checking kmods exist for 4.15.7 [ OK ]
Building and installing nvidia-kmod [FAILED]
Building rpms failed; see /var/cache/akmods/nvidia/390.25-3-for-4.15.7.failed.log for details
Hint: Some kmods were ignored or failed to build or install.
You can try to rebuild and install them by by calling
'/usr/sbin/akmods --force' as root.

did you run sudo make headers_install
?
yes I installed the headers.
no idea
alright thanks anyway, I’ll have a look around and see if I can find anything.
sorry i couldnt help. been way too long since ive worked with custom kernels in fedora XD
Its fine, I’ll figure it out eventually.
It’s no rocket science or pizza cooking
well I think we all know how I am at pizza cooking XD
oh hey free internet speed upgrade
now getting 100 down and like 8 up as opposed to the 60/6mb it was before
i can haz 1080P60FPS streams now? not bad.
@Dje4321 Finally got the akmods to build and have nivida drivers running on my custom kernel
I decided to go back and compile the 4.15.6 mainline kernel instead of 4.15.7 and akmods built the first attempt.
Was just going to say that I should give my ISP a call about getting higher speeds since the new package that replaced ours is a bit higher for the same price, but upon looking on their website it seems they backpaddled on that, so it’s now the same again (but lower price while excl. landline phone, which we have incl. but don’t use).
Oh well…
until something like 2021 or 2022 our ISP can not only not start data caps but basically has to give as good or better service as they were iirc 2 years ago so. Because legal things.
So for now, the ISP is doing well lol.
