lel I’m sure he’ll appreciate that. I’m going to force him to do it next time
Can also depend on the headphones. And the recording. And the DAC. And if there’s interference.
My K702 are more analytical than the M40x. They lack the fun bass oomph but that was also one of the things that made the M40x not as clear as the K702.
I’m really looking forward to seeing/hearing how the SMSL M3 is compared to the onboard sound.
Not satisfied with my current foobar layout…but redoing that is gonna be a bitch.
You should notice a fair difference. At least in my case I don’t have crackling audio and the sound is much more clear. The amp is also much better so there’s also that. onboard audio has trouble getting my headphones to a decent volume but dac can handle it great.
Me neither. Only on the front audio…come on, case manufacturers. It’s almost 2018. You’re focusing on RGB and tempered glass but they front audio is still shit.
A DAC shouldn’t have anything to do with that. An Amp does.
Which headphones do you have?
Status Audio CB-1s and its a DAC/Amp combo the amp inside my M2 has a better time handling my headphones than the one on the onboard audio does.
Oh, aren’t those the ones Logan reviewed (way back)?
btw, the Z-Reviews uhm…review quite praised the M2. Kind of a beast for the size.
Yes they are
yep that review was one of the reasons why I bought it. Shame that my plan was to also use it with my phone but my current and old one refuse to work with it, works fine on my brothers phone though so no idea why it doesn’t for mine.
How are they? After all the drama and the videos with that Mayflower guy I found myself doubting his opinions.
But I remember being interested in those headphones before I got my M40x but the Status weren’t available here.
Also the reason why I bought the SMSL M3. Before I found his channel I thought “ugh…so much cheap stuff from China…how can this be any good?”. He seems to love their stuff, so…maybe a bit biased?
I’m also curious about tube amps but they color the sound quite a bit. Like a “this tube amp with these tubes for these headphones and this specific kind of music”, which is too selective and costly.
They are good headphones for what I paid for them. Only thing I regret about getting these is the closed design. I kind of want a more open pair now but waiting for these to die before I get another as they are pretty good otherwise. Also the padding on the ear cups have almost completely pealed off which is unfortunate but w/e.
You’ll need all the tubes for all the sounds
Great for making music, not so great for replicating recorded audio
so ive been on a dream pop kick lately
neat. would give it a listen but YouTube is being mean
ah its region locked dammit
Edit: Found it on bandcamp. thats actually pretty good and relaxing music
could probably use a youtube downloader, spotify, etc to listen to it.
Why wait until they break? It’s not like you’re going to buy a pair for every occasion. And right now you’re not in a “oh shit, I need to get a new pair cause I don’t have any” situation which could bias your decision when buying.
It’s already stupid enough with headphones.
“Oh, these are are better for country, blues”
“Oh, these are better for rock/metal”
“Oh, these are better for electronic music”
“Oh, these are better for classical music.”
And if you pair it with “oh, these headphones sound better with this DAC/Amp combo. and these sound better with that combo.”…well, nope.
I like my K702 because they’re comfortable and I can wear them for hours without getting a headache or hot ears. Even with “just” onboard sound they’re plenty good. So for now I’m kinda set (which pretty much contradicts my previous statement above).
Also, tubes and amps get hot. Don’t need another heatsource in my room. btw, did your brother anything mention about heat development with the M3?
Weird, I thought it was the other way round.
These should last for a while and don’t feel like buying anymore if I don’t have do.
Nope thing doesn’t really get that hot at all.
But you need at least one pair of these!
Some things do
(timestamped)
Well there’s a reason most people say that tube guitar amps are much better than solid state: tubes add to the sound.
They aren’t bad as a headphone amp, but, if you’re trying to get the most accurate sound to the file, you should stay away from using tubes as they will add (or take away) from the sound.
But they look so cool!
btw, @Dje4321 @Michael @Cavemanthe0ne is the file limit/no excessive image spamming still in place?
was not really in place but was more a watchful thing.
Drive storage is cheap anyway so go ahead
