Nah, it’s still a status symbol.
But, there’s a fine they need to walk with where to set the price. Too low, and everyone will have it and upgrade every year, thus losing the status symbol. Too high, and then it becomes more acceptable to wait 2 or 3 gens before “upgrading” which also ruins their image a bit. They can try to mitigate this (and have) by implementing various forms of planned obsolescence as well as forced gimping of the product.
Couldn’t agree more. On top of hating apple for the bullshit they pull, I just hate the aesthetic. And that’s partly because who I associate it with, and partly from me just not liking the “ultra sleek unibody superthin elegant minimalistic” crap. I do like modern design, and organic design, but apple has fused them in what is, to me, an unappealing manner.

And then they have the level of narcissism to go and make a damn picture book of their “artistic product design” and charge $300 for it. I can clearly picture the person who would have this on their coffee table, sipping their organic, gluten free, non gmo, soy tea, in their thick frame lensless glasses and pants 3 sizes too small wearing some awfully ugly shirt with some converse all stars and a goofy looking combover.

I like minimalism … To an extent.
For me I dont care if a phone is ugly af as long as the thing works well and has good software/etc. So apple phones just dont do it for me. Also the way they are built means they are easy to break even compared to other new phones
Also is why I like Budgie/Solus linux lol. That minimalism tho. And my PC can look like a POS but its fine, that dont matter anyway lol

New phone ain’t happening this month. Don’t wanna dip into my savings.
But while checking for damaged blocks resulted in an error with Rufus (something something GUID) the name of the microSD stayed the same after mounting it on my phone.

i would suggest you just wipe the sd card with DD from /dev/urandom and then try and use it

Works fine now. Probably just Android and Windows doing a bad job at formatting.
It kept its name both after the initial re-insertion and mounting on the phone and after taking it out, moving the files back from the backup on my PC and then putting it in the phone again.
I just have no luck with that phone while my mother - who has the same model - has no issues at all.

My mind has been thinking about docker and running a server inside a container or docker all day.

Docker is pretty neat. can spin up containers for all kinds of Linux distros and services and is great for development and testing. even my whole Lineage build environment is in a docker container so I can migrate it more easily.

Yeah. I was so excited when I found out about docker the first time. Sad thing is I had no one to talk to about it cause they didn’t understand what it was and what it meant. It is very neat.
