Done with Debian?

Lol

Nope. Debian is still my primary Linux. It is on my Lenovo laptop. Then in December it will be installed on the XPS 13 I get.
Gallium is on the chromebook. It is designed for the chromebook. I could have done Debian but Gallium is designed to be used for a chromebook. So Iā€™m giving it a go to see how it goes.

Will you cover what made you choose Debian in your video?

Yep. I can go ahead and tell that now. I went with Debian cause it is lightweight and it is designed to be installed on practical any system. I do not say way Iā€™m sticking with it though. The reason I am staying with it is because the long term support of 5 years, the easy for me to follow documentation, and Iā€™ve really enjoyed working with it.

Was Ubuntu out of question?

Nope. Funny thing I tried sereval distros for the laptop including Ubuntu but all of them had serious performance issues on it. Debian has been good on performance. I donā€™t hate working on Ubuntu but there documentation isnā€™t nearly as well laid out as compared to Debian.

Iā€™ll await your video to see if Iā€™m switching to Debian on my laptop.

Hmm, figures. I just found an R9 390X on a bid ā€œfor partsā€ because under mining versions of Linux it doesnā€™t want to mine (which could just be drivers not being installed lol. Or not having a big enough PSU, etc) for $160
Put a bid in at that price and if I win it yay? Theres just over an hour left on the listing so Iā€™ll see about that.
If I get outbid oh well, if not then Iā€™ll have gotten a 390X that may or may not even have issues for $160

For that price Iā€™m willing to risk there being issues. Also the person has not even tried it on Windows yet so thats a good thing (and it still displays and all that, just doesnt want to mine in their configuration)

Iā€™ll also be making a thread post to go along with it. Iā€™ll be covering the things I did and how I did them for Debian like installing wi fi, and video drivers.
Iā€™m doing a little more work on this just in case any decides to give it a try they have the info they need to get going.

Ooooh
They have a bunch of 290 and 290Xs as well for $185 each with make an offer open

You might have a GPU hording issue.

Actually no lol. Sold all mine except the ones no one wanted so. Or the 3 in rigs currently.

Now a 390X would be nice, or crossfire 290X lol.
Preferably 390X though because VRAM

Just like all the crazy cat ladies hoard all the cats that no one wanted :stuck_out_tongue:
