CPU: Intel Celeron N2840
RAM: 2 GB Memory
Display: 11.6 inch
Storage: 16 GB Internal Storage
So, basically a netbook.
I mean thats basically what most chromebooks are now apart from maybe some of the slightly higher Pixel ones.
Yep.
yes but who wants to pay $2000 for a laptop with $300 specs?
Exactly thats Apples job anyway XD
I mean they had 4GB of ram, 32GB ssd, some low end i5 CPU and a 1080p screen for anywhere between $1000-$2000 depending on sales and how you got yours configured
Chromebooks are weird.
They could be so much more but stick to the weak hardware or odd priorities (quad-core Pentium but 8gigs RAM and FHD display).
yep that kind of insane, what is the cost going towards? surely it canāt be the chassis and uni-body design and the OS is āfreeā.
i have no fucking idea. Those are the kind of specs i want out of a $300 laptop. Damn thing cant even run a decent photo editor
Itās the āthink differentā tax
Its surely something, maybe Google selling the experience of the pixel device over the acutal cost of the hardware because it adds value to the person using it.
Wouldnāt be surprised, seeing how they do the whole Pixel phone thing. Somewhere around the Nexus 6 the prices skyrocketed. Nexus 4 -> ~250ā¬, Nexus 5 -> ~260ā¬, Nexus 6 -> ~420ā¬, and now the Pixel 2 is ~700ā¬.
I think Wendell mentioned in one of the old The Tek episodes that Google is becoming better at being Apple than Apple trying to become better than Google.
Yep thereās also a stark contrast between the Nexus and Pixel. the Nexus devices are pure stock Android that are unlocked but the Pixel phones have done away with that and are now their own thing.
Either something is fucked on my laptop or Iām being stupid again cause I canāt get it to use the USB thumb drive for booting. Only get the options for Fedora.
tried a different thumb drive or port?
Different port didnāt help.
Trying different thumb drive.
edit: nope, I only get Fedora to choose from.
hmm not sure, maybe the install media on the usb drive isnāt working properly? have you tried your Fedora installation media?
Had to remove the SSD, enter the BIOS, set the boot priority to my thumb drive (all were disabled before) and then plug the SSD back in via SATA-to-USB adapter.
No way back now as Iāve formatted my SSD with Gparted.
And I just wanted to try Ubuntu Budgie before committing to a new installationā¦
I have netflix again. I examined my finances and budgeted things around so I could get it. Luckily it hadnāt been so long it forgot what my watch list is.
