Could also be either Rufus doing a dumb or the ISO of Ubuntu Budgie.
Takes forever and did some big steps.
But I want Budgie, not Guh-Nome
edit: now Windows Explorer is fucking with it…

Fantasy story writing:
Introduced love interest in Chapter 2. It is going to be a bit before they get together.
Spoiler Plans from the outline:
Remember I said this was influenced by greek and roman classic stories. These stories are tragic in nature. The main character is going to become a character that has lived through and embodies despair. Anyway yes she gets married to this love interest. They have a child who lives to about the age of 17. Then both her Husband and daughter die tragically of a magical disease designed to kill all elves. The main character went to find the person who made it while they were sick but by the time she gets the info for the cure it is too late for her family. There is no resurrection magic in this world.
your doing the dark arts of mixing windows and linux together XD
Seems as Ubuntu wasn’t to my Windows likings. Fed27 worked fine with Rufus but now my laptop is stupid.
Fucking Spectre and Meltdown and fucking microcode and fucking Medion proprietary empty BIOS.
Fucking fuck fuckety fuck!
what really? so the intel microcode is fucking the BIOS on your laptop?
Not sure. Fed27 didn’t work. Fed26 let me advance to the installation process, so I’m using that now.
https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?315649-Update-intel-microcode
As I got Fed26 to install and work, I guess I’m not messing with different distros any time soon.
Could be from creating the usb drives with Rufus? I’ve had issues with it before but I usually dd them on to a usb drive and they work.
Never had any issues with Rufus before and the Fed26 stick that worked I just created with Rufus, so…eh?
I think I had Fed27 installed before - really not sure as I just use my laptop for playing videos while falling asleep, so no idea what exactly caused the issue in the first place.
Installing all the shit again…
Installation seems to be broken in some places. Window switcher is broken. And Dolphin gives me:
Unable to create io-slave. klauncher said: Error loading ‘/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so’.
So I can’t really do anything that includes the file explorer.
i would verify the iso first
Yep, it’s an iso.
Verified.
btw, instead of following advice and doing proper research like a normal, tech-savvy person I’m going full “oh, I wonder what this will do” and probably make it much worse by doing a dnf system upgrade.
meant more in the sense that the iso is complete
Yeah…I have no idea how to confirm that.
There should be an option when you boot it to very its integrity.
So far I only ever got the different kernel versions and a safe-mode(?) version listed upon boot and selected it automatically (latest installed version) if no key was pressed.
On the usb flash drive it should have an option for Test this media & start Fedora-Workstation-Live 27
or whatever spin your using.
Yeah, but since that always prompted the firmware bug thing I just wanted to get it installed and went straight for starting the installation.
I should’ve know that it’s not as easy as just popping in the USB thumbd rive, install Ubuntu Budgie, put some episodes on it and call it a night. I’m kinda tired so I’m half-assing more than usual cause I just want to go to bed.
Okay, upgrade complete. Booted normal by itself. Has new login and desktop wallpaper. Icons and date/clock in taskbar have shifted to the left instead of the right.
Observations of a linux-noob.
Linux-noob observation log part II: file explorer works now.
Nice so its all working correctly now?
Looks like it.
I’m jumping ahead and am doing some personalization.
Seems like KDE changed some settings around.
