lol. it’s fine, was planning this for a while as Dje asked me …many months ago so. I didn’t really know you had stuff either though so that goes both ways
i may be interested if you have any ivy bridge chips though as i have a couple more elitebooks here, a 13" and a 15" from similar time.
iirc one is a 8560p and the other is… 8470P? are both ivy bridge though. one has the top end dual core i7, other has some random i5 so
I have a lot of lower-end IB parts right now since I’ve been using the good ones to upgrade.I’m picking up a whole crate of for-parts 3rd and 4th gen laptops on Monday that should have a couple higher end CPUs in them. I’ll let you know what’s worthwhile from that.
no, just has two ram slots. did just add the 8gb ram stick, which works fine. might do a battery test with ubunut just doing a live boot lol and watching YT or whatever for a internet browsing test.
There are two variants of that motherboard: one with the extra two slots between the CPU socket and MXM, and one without. If that machine was configured from HP with an i5 than it would be the expansion-delete variant. The better board is pretty easy to get ahold of though, HP P/N 652509-001 (you’ve currently got 652508, pretty dick move from HP honestly).
that sucks. Oh well. 16GB of ram should be enough for now
On a random note.
Also tag of @Main_Main for reasons
So with all this talk on laptops I got carious again and checked out the i7 in my broken laptop and it has the same package type as the i3 in my current laptop. half tempted to swap the i7 in and see if it works if the BIOS supports it and ignoring the fact the cooling solution might not be up to it.
@Dje4321 about 30-35mins in to the first battery and it’s at 50% now, just watching a YT video at medium brightness. this is the small battery lol. will see how long the thing lasts.
im guessing about 3-4 hours
HP batteries have a propensity to misread their charge level. All of the ProBooks I have will drain to between 7%-10% in half an hour then stay there for 40+ minutes.
hmm. in any case it’s going and i have the timer on so. just under ubunut Budgie live boot so, its not windows reporting.
in any case … at this rate, will last an hour probably just on the small battery lol… if not more. aand then theres the extra battery…
Battery life on this thing is going to be amazing
even more if i get the spare battery that i can hot swap out
It does look like GOG is the culprit for not capture the ReShade.
I Lauched the version I had using Steam and well:
Before ReShade:
After ReShade:
I’ll use steam for the last two live sessions.
that would be kinda cool, oh my massive battery ran out. lets just put in another one. could possibly stretch it out and go without external power at all for a very long time
if i get can 2-3 hours of gaming out of the 2 batterys installed in it then i might not. But could be neat.
yes maybe not gaming but even so could be great over wise and 2-3 hours gaming ain’t bad at all.
You may have realized I may just have a little bit of OCD…
how so?
