my brain is doing that thing again where it goes into overdrive and I can’t get it to rest where it keeps trying to think over everything in my head at once and I can’t seem to get it to a point where I can manage it. I tried going for a walk but that didn’t seem to help much but I feel really stressed out right now and can hardly think straight and just want it to rest, no sure what else to do. sorry for semi rambling but I needed to get this out of my head.

i set the OBS setting to be 1KB for both audio tracks (i.e. my mic and the game sound) i think so

not sure if OBS means 1024bits

… still the higher audio quality during render should help it stay that quality if nothing else

Valve… it’s been five years. I get Steam makes money but seriously… you need to release a new Source SDK.
I do have a bunch of tutorials I’ll be doing. My goal is that by July I’ll have the 1st level made. This gives me time to learn what I can do with Source SDK 2013.

Went for another walk again and feeling a little better, I think getting that out may have helped a little.
Wasn’t Fedora 28 supposed to have improved power management built into it for laptops? 25W does seem pretty high as iirc my laptop was around 14W idle on Solus.
Nice I approve of i3, should hopefully help quite a bit over gnome for power usage

lel that seems strange, could it be because i3 is using xorg instead of wayland? yep hopefully you can get it somewhere stable, going back to the default cpu would kinda suck but maybe its the root cause of most of these issues?

it would but ill take it for better battery life. im getting around 2 hours total with both batteries instead of like the 6 i should be getting lol

yep I can see that, a small performance hit for potentially more than double the battery life is totally worth it for a laptop, two hours just isn’t good enough, still maybe you’ll get support for stuff like VT-d back which would be great

for the kind of battery life im getting i should be drawing close too 100W of power constantly lol which doesnt add up.
might just go for it and hope for the best. Its between this and a new GPU. unless i can get @Cavemanthe0ne to mail me the old CPU that was in here by stock

What so your laptop is pulling around 100W or at least the battery is draining as if that were the case? that is more than my desktop at idle.
Giving up on a new GPU would totally suck just to get it where the battery life isn’t bad but overall might be worth it just to get a usable laptop, ofc unless @Cavemanthe0ne can do you a solid.

thats hows the math is coming out lol. ive got anywhere from 175-200Whr of battery and yet i struggle to hit 2-3 hours of battery.
Not sure if i even want to get a new GPU atm as i dont know if i could afford it. might get a CPU and a PSP but not sure yet

yeah thats really strange, I mean from what I understand the parts can’t be pulling that much power can they or something else is amiss?
yeah GPU would be neat but if you could afford one but if not a PSP instead is totally worth it.

There is a lot to download for source SDK 2013.
Like Visual Studio 2013 which Microsoft made stupidly hard to get to it. However I got to it.

Does the SDK work with Visual Studios Express 2013? iirc that was just one click away from the Microsoft website the last time I had to download that.
Yep.
To get to it: I had to login in to visual studio to get the older version. My search engine skills helped me get to it.
