My buddy loves dark souls and has played all numerous times. He says 3 is artificially difficult compared to the others in that it’s not pure game mechanics like in the original. I can’t confirm nor deny these claims as I’ve not played any dark souls myself though.

He is right in that the original Dark Souls games are all 100% pure mechanics, there’s clear strategies to every situation in those games that work and are repeatable all of the time if your skilled enough but will be interesting if Dark Souls 3 added some randomness to that.

That was quite sudden. I read that he retired from doing reviews as they were pretty exhausting for him but he wanted to continue with the podcast. Just 4 days ago he tweeted about feeling better physically but needing more time for mental recovery. He was just 34.
