Hooray for MicroShit!

TIL MS Access is real crap when it comes to creating reports.
Also the forms are hideous and a pain in the ass to edit (the input screen).
But otherwise I really like working with it (can’t say if that’s true for all database programs as I only used MS Access so far).

Curse the day I ever have to use MS Access again, it does terrible things for a database system and MS makes it ridiculously hard todo the simplest things if you even stray slightly away from its way of doing things. Pro tip though, MS Access still uses SQL on its backend so if you know your way around you can bypass some of the crap.

Seen it. No idea what to do with that gibberish.

Its a language used for managing relational databases, if you do a fair amount of DB work even in MS Access it helps to at least understand the basics of it as its a good way to tell what Access is actually doing with your data and you get more fine-grained control over things.

No comprende.

Quick off-topic, but I thought there’s a version of Steam for linux already so you don’t have to install it with Wine?
Am I missing the point of that??
nvm, someone answered that (for playing Win games too, not just linux games)

SQL as a language isn’t that difficult to learn at least the basics, its very well structured in the way its typed and even the people who struggled a fair bit with programming when i was at College were able to pickup SQL fairly easily.

iirc the only way to play Windows games through Steam is with the Windows Steam client, they are not compatible with each other as far as I’m aware at least for launching games, you can still technically update Windows Steam games with the Linux client if you jump through some hoops though

So…MS Access is extremely simple to use and in terms of features?

But…idk, this looks kinda inconvenient when I can just add the fields with a click or type them in a table.

When things get a little more complex and you need to link a ton of tables together and such it can help a lot, part of it though is that knowing the SQL goes a long way to understanding how the database actually works. In Access I mostly just used it for query’s though more than for stuff like adding tables and the like.

I’ll just go back to pen & paper.
Just have to burn it if the feds show up and not sprint to the server room, yank out the drives, kill them with a sledge hammer.

But you have to admit though killing drives with a sledge hammer is way more fun than burning paper.

Can’t really enjoy it when you have to hurry with the feds on their way.

Isn’t that part of the fun? The suspense of them possibly catching you in the act. Pro criminal tip though, if you really wanted to destroy your data and beat the feds put a powerful electromagnetic above them with a remote kill switch

I think thermite has been the standard for a while now.

Yes thermite works too :joy:

Or one of those industrial shredders that can munch up barrels too.
When I worked at a bookstore we had one for paper (we had to rip them apart to make them thinner cause the shredder wasn’t powerful enough but still strong enough to eat your hand).

thermite doesnt like those multi platter drives much though.

I sat down and thought a bit about why I couldn’t have a triple monitor setup (seeing as I have 4 monitors in here, 2 were just laying around). My 270x only supported 2 unless they were the same model monitor on the dvi bus (I don’t have any display port, which is the problem). The 480, however, only has 1 dvi port. So my suspicions were, if the issue is the dvi bus can only handle 2 if it’s the same monitor than that should be a non-issue with this card.

So I did a thing:

Not ideal, but it’s what I have to do for now since my dvi cable isn’t long enough and my card is incompatible with the dvi-vga adapter I have. Eventually I’ll get a longer dvi cable so I can move the portrait to the other side and the little guy down onto my desk, but look! Triple monitors finally!

We all know that you can never have enough monitors

Granted the portrait has seen better days… but it was free and is my only portrait. I mainly just use it for discord anyway so not a big deal.

I want to put something on my wall so i can use my phone for a extra “half” monitor
