Not exactly a console guy anymore (havenāt been since the the end of the PS3 and X360). The companies are keeping their grasp tight on their customers and the āstart up and playā era is long gone.
With a big purchase (300 something for the Switch + 50-70 for 1 game + 70+ for a microSD -> 440) like that Iād like it to be more versatile and not limited to a specific selection of games.
Does āsitting in my chair tilted back and with the feet on my deskā count?

yeah I mean I do that a fair bit too just depends on how Iām feeling and whether anything has battery because sadly thereās no outlet near my bed at all.

Nintendo is letting full M rated games like DOOM onto the eshop so your selection wont be completely limited

Trying to limit my sources for digital media.
Didnāt Nintendo close the eShop for the Wii/Wii U recently with no way of downloading your purchased games in the future?
Actually the Switch is somewhat resistant to digital market places being closed down compared to other consoles. All game data downloads to the sd card and if you have a 400GB one can just save all the games and transfer them to external media for storage. Iāve offloaded 40GB of games from my sd card to my computer for safe keeping and can load them back whenever i need to.
Iād still go for retail versions. Might be less convenient and even more expensive in some cases but I donāt like the possibility of not being able to have access to what I paid for when a company decides to shut the service down and move on to the next thing.
Netflix already does that by removing shows from its catalog which is the Cable TV equivalent of āstopped broadcasting show Xā.
Can you load retail games onto your Switch/microSD so you can use them without the cartridge?

nope they load directly from the cartridges, it does load some data onto the internal storage for the game though.
Still not too bad as the game card slot isnāt hard to access like on the Nokia Ngage.
Downloaded and installed most of my game again today.
~570GB. Thank fuck my ISP doesnāt to data caps.
