RIP you still don’t have the joycons?

other joy con died ?

I do but I don’t have the grip with me, plus I HATE THE JOYSTICKS ON THE JOYCONS IT’S ABSOLUTE TRASH

I don’t use the Joycons

ye the joysticks on those are kinda meh, could technically use them floating in each hand outside of the grip but given your dislike for them that could get weird fast.

Its not the greatest but ive had far worse. Do wish that the red joystick was near the top but i understand why its not.

Im still waiting on third party joycons but im not sure if patents are going to get in the way.

I mean they’ve already been pretty heavily reverse engineered at this point it wouldn’t be too hard to replicate them but ye Nintendo might not be too happy about it.

The location of the left joystick is wrong and I don’t like it, but the bigger issue I have with them is that the range of motion is super small

@TheDiddilyHorror the only game I’ve been playing controls like shit with the Joycons for the reason above

Its Nintendo im worried about. The slide mech is great and im sure they are willing to protect that.

It can be either or for me. Design probably wont change because its there so its the dpad part of the sideways controller.

This could be improved but not a huge issue for me.

Still have warranty on the controller? Could pull the old “idk it suddenly stopped working”.

You mean like this?

Third party might not be possible but I’m sure Nintendo may be somewhat willing to allow officially licensed joycons some time in the future and I’d still take if they can improve on the design.

I guess most likely Hori. The question is if Nintendo will allow them to use a different layout like they did with the N64 controller.

They already have a pair of Zelda themed Joycons on their website, though (same layout, just design).

Unlikely, the patent is very specific about the sliding mechanism and how it interacts with the console so just changing the layout probably isn’t enough.

They let Hori already use some of their licenses (brand, IPs, etc.) so why not for a sliding mechanism too?

It’s a 3rd party controller I actually like it better then the official pro controller, and yes it is under warranty. It has a 3 year warranty unlike the official Pro Controller’s 3 month warranty .
