definitely wasn’t that. I didn’t use the 4K monitor at all in the desktop. everything just looks stretched and washed out but it could just be the shitty monitor because it had soo many other issues.

that might be it too

you won’t believe how cheap this monitor is, its as if Asus took all the buzzwords and throw it into a monitor at a decent price but it completely fell apart.

btw, I noticed - back when my desktop had its guts pulled out - that fedora has much nicer colors than windows 10 (same programs). is this a thing or something just fucked up on my machine?

just feodra (gtk) theme doing its thing. Is fairly nice but you can change that how ever you feel

Even my old crappy Samsung monitor looked much nicer. On Windows it’s just washed out and grainy.

sounds like it just had better calibration data out of the box

lol. package temp is sitting at 80C with only 2 threads being pinned to ~100%

damn compiling still giving you trouble?

no trouble yet. just mostly watching the temps carefully

So its just a mac being a mac then?

not really. this mac actually has a fan so it runs fairly well XD. Just watching the temps so i dont kill a second laptop compiling something

well yeah, that right is reversed for installing gentoo.

So i want to try a different DE than what ive done before. Ive tried KDE Plasma, Gnome, i3, and Mate. Any other suggestions? Prefer GTK over QT because themeing but dont really care much

My god did glibc take AGES I feel the pain of anyone attempting to compile it.

hmm maybe budgie or xfce? I can’t think of many others that are GTK based.

thats the issue im having atm. i like gnome but a bit too heavy for my taste, and KDE does not have the same amount of polish that gnome has :frowning:

I could never get away with KDE for the same reasons and always seem to keep going back to gnome. You’d think it would be easy with how many DE we have to choose from but its just hard to break from what your used to.

yep. i would go unity if it wasnt a completely broken on any non ubuntu distros

yep used unity for years and it was great to spite its flaws. I was hoping the fork might make it usable on other distros.
