V: “Did you know cattle contribute x amount of methane which accelerates global warming? What are you doing to help out?”

No. I did it to not appear rude. Good news is everything appears to be running smoothly now.
So, the Netherlands just opened the first supermarket aisle without plastic. Nice. Eventhough they’re heavier I always preferred glass bottles.
i have mixed feelings on this. it depends on what they end up replacing the plastic with. Glass is somewhat harder on the environment but easier to recycle and more of it.
My problem with glass from a consumer standpoint is just how much it costs, anything in a glass bottle costs at least £1 more than the same amount in a plastic/metal container.
I see more people recycling glass bottles/jars than plastic bottles.
What I’m split about is plastic grocery bags. The paper stuff gets wet in the rain/snow and rips, the fabric stuff gets wet too but doesn’t rip, but you might as well just throw your groceries in a sea bag (as all of them will shuffle around anyway).
Over here plastic grocery bags have seen a big decline in use, they passed a law in which you are required to pay for them (with the money going to charity) so everybody just uses backpacks and reusable bags now.
i hate plastic water bottles for the simple fact that it uses a ton of plastic for not much water. Good for when you need something to drink while your on the go and you forgot to grab something from the house. If your at home then just get something from the tap or the fridge.
groceries stores here dont have paper bags and the baggers give you really dirty looks when you bring your own. I do think we have using WAY to much plastic for useless tat that has a one time use
We always had to pay for them. Still didn’t prevent people from buying them.
There are sturdy, re-usable plastic bags that are supposed to replace the ones you’re probably throwing away on the same day. But so far I’ve seen very few people use them (mainly people with cars).
