it very much is a tax on the poor. I know many people who spend entire paychecks with the mentality of “Just one more and ill score big and be set for the rest of my life”

I knew someone who was on benefits looking for a job and he spent almost all of his benefit money on the lottery which annoys me quite a bit.

Or from their purse to buy alcohol.
Even worse when they steal electronics and take them to a pawn shop. Knew someone briefly who did that. Not even from a poor family or bad upbringing. Just the wrong kind of friends (the kind that are “like family” and violent in groups).
